Mox
Kawhi bouncing from a great team, picking his running mate and getting sent home in embarrassing fashion has to be in the back of Giannis' mind right now. The Bucks lucked out that the Clippers are now the scapegoats of the postseason.

It’s hilarious how insecure the are. How are they gonna be so insecure over a team that hasn’t won anything? You don’t see Packers fans insecure about the Lions or Patriots fans insecure about the Dolphins. These dudes are so threatened and for no reason. They've forgotten what it's like to be the best team in town.

The Heat might give the Celtics all they can handle too.

But he can also look at Durant leaving OKC for Golden State, LeBron leaving Cleveland for Miami, or Shaq leaving Orlando for Los Angeles as all three players won multiple championships. And to a lesser extent he can look at someone like Garnett forcing his way to Boston and getting a ring or even Kawhi forcing his way out of San Antonio and winning a championship with the Raptors last season. There have only been 3 former MVP's in the modern era that have switched teams during their prime, LeBron/Durant via free agency and Garnett via trade. All three of those guys left small market teams to play in bigger markets on teams that featured 2 other All-Star level talents in their primes. And all three of those guys had multiple finals appearances and won at least 1 championship after making the jump. Looking forward to next offseason there are three teams that can provide something similar for Giannis if he wants to move on. Miami will have Butler/Bam under contract with an excellent coach and room for Giannis, Toronto will have Siakam under contract with an excellent coach with the room to sign Giannis and another max level free agent, and Dallas will have Luka/KP under contract with an excellent coach and room for Giannis. Even looking at guys that have been 1st team All-NBA and then switched teams in their prime points to leaving as the right decision, IMO. Shaq - Orlando to Los Angeles (3 championships), Los Angeles to Miami (1 championship) Kawhi Leonard - San Antonio to Toronto (1 championship), Toronto to Los Angeles (jury is still out but he could very well get a ring with the Clippers) Kevin Durant - Oklahoma City to Golden State (2 championships) LeBron James - Cleveland to Miami (2 championships), Miami to Cleveland (1 championship), Cleveland to Los Angeles (likely getting a ring this year) Anthony Davis - New Orleans to Los Angeles (likely getting a ring this year) Kevin Garnett - Minnesota to Boston (1 championship) Chris Paul - New Orleans to Los Angeles (0 championships), Los Angeles to Houston (0 championships) Dwight Howard - Orlando to Los Angeles (0 championships), Los Angeles to Houston (0 championships) Tracy McGrady - Orlando to Houston (0 championships) Paul George - Oklahoma City to Los Angeles (jury is still out but he could very well get a ring with the Clippers) So of the 10 All-NBA level players that we've seen switch teams during their primes, half of them won championships, with AD likely to get a championship this year making it 6. The only 4 that haven't/didn't are McGrady (who's career got derailed by injuries), Paul (who got close but never made it over the hump), Howard (who's game kinda became obsolete with how basketball shifted), and George (who has a pretty realistic shot to win a championship next season). titans0021
Draft picks are huge. But they mean absolutely nothing to me if it gets Giannis to sign the supermax. If he leaves, might as well burn the franchise to the ground for a decade. Lot of respect for taking the shot.

A bunch of picks in the 25-30 range is nothing if it plays any role in getting him to stick. If Horst has a commitment from Giannis, this is such a low risk move.

Nah, we get it, you have to, the value of this trade is entirely up to whether or not he stays. Big difference between multiple top five/ten picks and a few real late firsts.
