Canadian Saint
House money describes a situation where you're at a casino, horse racing track etc., and you're in the black. Meaning any losses that come won't come from your personal money but from money you've won. I couldn't think of a better situation to describe the Saints season thus far than that. After Brees went down, most of us were hoping to play .500 until Brees came. We're undefeated going into our final two games without Brees with a decent lead in the division. The reason I mention it is because this game could culminate in our first loss under Teddy Bridgewater. Along with Brees, star RB Alvin Kamara and TE Jared Cook will both miss this game with injury. We're going into Soldier field against a very stout Bears D. Coaches corner: - PFF had Saints rookie C Erik McCoy as the only C in the league that is top 5 in both pass blocking and run blocking scenario. Unger was a vital part of the Saints line in his time here, however it seems Ireland and co., found a rookie replacement to seamlessly replace him. - The D was given the timely props against the win in Jacksonville. They contained Fournette, pressured Minshew and had an INT. We should've had more turnovers, however penalties nullified that. - RB Zach Zenner was signed. Known by Lombardi in his times with the Lions, Zenner is a tough runner who can pick up 3-4 yards consistently. He'll be backing up Murray who will no doubt handle the majority of the load. We'll see how he does. - If there was any game for Ginn Jr., to have a great game it's this one. Smith is out leaving Bridgewater's targets after Thomas in Ginn Jr., and Hill primarily. - To win this game, we need our D to continue to be game winners. Shut down Turbisky and this Bears offense and give Bridgewater enough chances to score. Will Lutz will likely be leaned on heavily. - The O-line has a big task too. They play against star DE Khalil Mack coming off a BYE week. Luckily for us Akiem Hicks is out for the game. Prediction: 10-7 Saints win

Jlowe22
If we win this game with both Brees and Kamara out, I'm calling superbowl for us.
Mid Iowa
I love the house money analogy for our division. In the NFC, though, there's a lot riding on this. For the Saints: we're in a 3 way tie for 2nd seed at 5-1, hold the tie breaker over the Seahawks, and a game behind the 49ers (5-0). There are some good teams right on our heals. The Vikings and the Buccs are both 4-2, both good teams with shaky QB's, but could easily be in our laps for 3rd seed (or 4th). Fortunately we we have the tie-breaker over the Buccs, too. For the Bears: they're 3-2 and are on the edge of in or out. 3-3 and they're in the middle of the pack with a so-so QB. 4-2 and they're tied for 2 in their division, and are holding a potential seed. How it shakes out? We know Teddy gets uneasy with an unstable pocket, and that Chicago defensive front will make certain of that. Both defenses are badass, and our offense, who I'd normally say is hands down better, or even FAR better than the Bears, are going to be on a level playing field as them without our key guys, so this game is anything but a gimme. I easily see another 10-12 game here like we had with Dallas.

Dome
Why would we even let Patterson return? Boot it out the back of the end zone. that’s bad coaching IMO

Jlowe22
Just now, Spartica4Real said: Are the Saints better without Drew Brees?!?!?! (no not srs) I know you're not srs, but current, 40 year old Drew Brees coming back from an injury might be a different story then prime Brees. With prime Brees, or even last year Brees, it's silly to even think about. But if current Brees isn't 100%, not as sure.
