pf9
Entering this week there were still 14 teams whose bowl eligibility was up in the air. 13 of those teams play their season finales this week. The 14th, Army, has two games left and needs to win them both to become bowl-eligible. Some teams have a good chance of getting the win they need, others are about 50/50, and others still will probably wait until next year. Let's see which teams have good, so-so, and bad chances of being bowl-eligible. Right now 78 teams have clinched a possible bowl invite. 6 of them clinched this week. Another 3 have been eliminated.ClinchedBoston College - defeated 7-4 Pittsburgh Kent State - defeated 6-5 Eastern MichiganLiberty - defeated 2-9 New Mexico State Michigan State - defeated 3-8 Maryland Mississippi State - defeated 4-7 Ole MissOhio - defeated 0-11 Akron EliminatedNebraska - lost to 8-3 IowaOregon State - lost to 9-2 OregonTCU - lost to 4-7 West VirginiaTroy - lost to 10-1 Appalachian StateSo-So North Carolina - plays 4-7 NC StateBad Army - plays 8-4 Hawaii and 8-2 Navy Colorado - plays 10-1 Utah UL Monroe - plays 9-2 LouisianaKeyItalics - team succeeded in becoming bowl-eligibleStrike-through - team failed in becoming bowl-eligible So yeah, up to 8 of these teams could very well win, and only 2 bowl eligible teams would be left out as a result. tom cody
Ohio is bowl eligible despite being potentially 1-11? That's when you know there are to many bowl games.
pf9
Ohio has succeeded I will be editing the OP periodically to denote which teams have succeeded and failed at becoming bowl eligible.

But they make a ton of money for all of the participants except the players. I hope more and more players hold themselves out of the game to prove a point. pf9
The MAC bowl picture is now pretty clear. The MAC has 5 tie-ins. 4 of their bowl-eligible teams have 7 wins or more and are pretty much guaranteed a bowl. That means one of the MAC's bowls will have to decide which 6-6 team they want. The fifth MAC bowl team will come down to Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Ohio and Toledo.
candyman93
Nebraska has been garbage all year. Kinda glad they won’t make the conference look bag in their bowl game.
pf9
The bowl fates of 8 teams are still to be determined. Most, if not all, will be determined Saturday.

pf9
79 teams are bowl eligible. Only one team, likely a 6-6 G5 team, will miss out. Only one other season has seen just one bowl eligible team left out. That was 2004. Akron was the only eligible team not invited that year. That year Clemson and South Carolina declared themselves ineligible after both teams were involved in a brawl during their game. Akron made a bowl the next year.
