#9/10: S Derwin James - I know we drafted Obi last year, but a combo of James/Joseph is too enticing for me to pass up

#41: T  Kolton Miller - Slides into starting role at RT in year 1, groomed to take LT spot in year 2. Lengthy but a bit slow, needs to be coached up

#75: DE/OLB Dorance Armstrong Jr - Pass-rush specialist. We missed recently on a 3rd like this (Calhoun) but still need help

#110 ILB Oren Brooks - Not missing on a Vandy ILB again. Might need a year behind Bowman, but provides good insurance should he fall off or he gets injured

I agree with taking a RB as well, but I'm fine with taking a flier with one of those 4 6th round comp picks instead of going early. I'm skeptical Lynch comes back, but I think Gruden/Reggie will sift through retreads in free agency and find some specialists to come in. IMO, Richard is the only back that stays, Lynch/Washington get cut, and we bring in a 2 downer (Hyde/Crowell/Martin/Blount) and pair him with a scatback type (D. Lewis/Burkhead/McKinnion/Sims).

would like this.. you guys think Obi can be a weakside backer... Obi is big

He played just as much linebacker as safety at FSU and showed better the close he was to the line of scrimmage. The Lebron James of football? C'mon now.

Lebron of football with his VERSATILITY. name a guy who can play all db and all lb positions?

Ill agree to disagree I think he is a nfl safety not lb. I think his weakest area is pass rushing and he gets by with pure athletic ability. Reminds me of a less polished jamal adams coming into the draft but with a higher ceiling. I think once he blows up the combine and interviews (film junkie like gruden) he'll got top 5 consideration. If you want a athletic lb stud take edmunds. not a fan of changing positions.

I don't think Derwin James can play all DB and LB positions effectively. To me, he's a strong or free safety or a weakside linebacker only. Put him at corner or SLB/MLB in base in the NFL and he gets eaten up.

Plus, there has been a tried and tested pipeline of safeties and edge rushers becoming effective off ball linebackers in the NFL: Brian Urlacher, Anthony Barr, Deone Buchanan, Joe Schobert, Shaq Thompson, and Mark Barron.

Id trust him vs bigger wr's 1on 1 in coverage and ive seen him hang with slot guys in the middle. Id like to see us use him everywhere not just limit him to one position.

I like Obi but I'm not passing up on Darwin James for him.I mean I believe Obi will develop in to a good player but James I see him being a star.Conley,Joseph,Obi and add in James my god that could be something special

hope he can be a quality starter in time. I think he's a ST/depth player. Never understood the hype.

Even if you didn't like his tape, I think you could understand the excitement surrounding a playing at his size running and jumping what he did.

I understand, I just don't like it. It's always the same thing with a lot of Raider fans. They fall in love with H/W/S prospects (see Edmunds this year). It's the Al Davis way.

Eye test with Obi didn't do it for me. Didn't see him play to that H/W/S. Just okay in coverage. No anticipation, always having to see the ball in the air. Willing in run support, but for his size didn't leave an impression.

Looked like a JAG to me in college. Don't see him developing into much further as a pro. He was an over draft H/W/S prospect who blew up the combine. Only thing Al Davis would have done differently is draft him in round 1.

First, Obi's tape wasn't as pedestrian you make out. Those were the knocks from his profile. Tape was better than that.

Next, Edmunds tape definitely shows more than a H/W/S prospect.

I'm a big advocate of moving back and acquiring more 2nd and 3rd round picks (I'm particularly fond of Buffalo's 2 seconds). These are some guys who I really like in round 2:

Tyrell Crosby, OT, Oregon and Jamarco, OT, Jones, Ohio State: I've made my opinions on Crosby known, but I also really like Ohio State's Jones as a competent long term starter in the NFL. Jones looks the part both in frame and technique. He's not an exceptional athlete at the position, and he may never transcend into an elite player, but he projects to have a long career based on plenty or strength and a solid deck of skills. In today's dearth of tackle, competence is almost all you can ask for.

Anthony Averett, CB, Alabama: I view Averett as one of the best values past the first round. He might not ever develop into a top 10 player at the position, but I believe he has starter traits from day 1 and can grow into a top 20 player at the position year after year. My pro comp for him is a player I'd also like to target in free agency: Bashaud Breeland.

Isaac Yiadom, CB, Boston College: It has honestly been a surprise for me that Yiadom hasn't received the post Senior Bowl hype he deserves. It seems the only think the All Star game did for his stock is put him on the map, but I believe he has first round traits. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a Byron Jones-style bump after what I anticipate will be a stellar combine.

Lorenzo Carter, Edge/LB, Georgia: Speaking of blowing up the combine, there's little doubt in my mind Lorenzo Carter will do exactly that. Search his name into Twitter and you'll likely find clips of him chasing down a receiver from 30 yards away or exploding off the line against Notre Dame. He never found a positional home at Georgia, but I think he'd be an ideal fit at either outside linebacker spots in Oakland. That said, he may very well go in the first round.

Jerome Baker, LB, Ohio State: It wouldn't surprise me Lorenzo Carter follows the long line of hyper-athletic Ohio State linebackers sneak into the first round. I think his tape was "weak" enough to suppress his value, but I believe his true self is a Telvin Smith-like playmaker. People will often cite Roquan Smith as the premier sideline-to-sideline backer in this year's draft, but there's enough evidence to suggest Baker is right there with him in that regard.

Hopefully we can land two new defensive starters the first two rounds, our defense could use it.

what if we landed

#10- R Smith/Edmunds

and traded up in the 20s for a stud D-Lineman like Payne or Vea

DL: Mack, Edwards,  Payne/Vea, FA

LB: Edmunds/Smith, Bowman, Irvin

CB: Conely, FA,

S:  Joseph, Obi

Depth: Hester, Vanderdoes, Morrow, James, Lee, Luani, 2018 draft picks

Most of the starters would be set if we added a star DT and a stud LB.....
