If Mahomes ever does this I won’t argue with firing Pace immediately that day.

Sports Media and Twitter and Youtubers:

On Cam Newton:  Cam!  Why won’t anyone sign Cam?!?  So wrong.  Here are some highlights.  Just watch.   What is wrong with the NFL?  Somebody sign him already!  Cam!

On Andy Dalton:   ....

Poor Andy.  Is it the red hair?

If he weren’t under contract he’d be signed somewhere IMO. Nobody needs a starter now though who isn’t drafting one except for NE (maybe) and as such nobody is going to part with assets to get a guy they can sign for free on a more favorable contract a month from now.

Cam has name recognition from his college days but he’s not been a good NFL QB for a few years now.

If there was any truth to the rumors that fact that Cincy was asking a 2nd round pick for him may also be holding things up.

Apparently they're in no rush to trade him right now and content to wait 'til they can make the right deal.

Way too early predictions for 2020:

1) C. Patterson plays a much larger role in O than last year, but still not that big of one.

2) Our young guys who underperformed last year; Daniels, Smith, Nichols, have a bounce back year.

3) Tolliver wins starting CB job opposite Fuller.

4) TEs are Harris, Graham, Burton, Horstead and Holtz who doubles as FB so they keep 5.

5) Shaheen plays a ton of preseason and how he does will determine if he makes the team.

6) Bush wins SS job unless Bears draft a S in 2nd and maybe even then.

7) Bars makes 53 and if Bears don’t draft an OL in 2nd, starts at least one game in regular season (on offense).

8) sad prediction:  Trevathan is hurt and out by game 9 and Miller hurts his shoulder again or is hampered by it.

9) If Graham and Burton get hurt then Horstead gets U job and may keep it for foreseeable future.

10) Bears make playoffs.

Pre season for Bears will be about 100x more interesting this year as there will be many real position battles at stake unlike last year.

1.  Bears are said to be seeking a speed receiver, why can't CP be that guy?  He has the speed and, while no one would call him a #1 he should be able to take the top off a defense.

2.  Daniels has to be better than what we saw last year.  Smith was getting it going the second half of the year.  Nichols has been a stud throughout for a fifth rounder.

3.  Tolliver, Burns, Roberson seemed to be locked into a 2,3,4 battle at RCB.  Skrine at NCB, does anyone think Shelly may get bumped off the roster?  I do.

4.  I was looking at this similarly, TE-U = Graham & Burton, TE-Y = Harris & Holtz, with Horstead on the roster as a TE-U of the future.  Shaheen and Braunecker are cut in this situation.

5.  I think Shaheen has to be cut at this point.  I don't see them keeping him when a guy like Harris can give you similar production and he has also proven that he can't stay on the field.  A pick by Pace who had a very small chance to be something great (Gronk jr), but small school guys with only a couple years of football will always have a hard time making it in the NFL, especially when they can't stay healthy.  Time to move on and save the cap space.  Same with Braunecker.  That dropped pass that hit him in the hands down the middle may have sealed his fate.

6.  I think Bush should be the #2 FS and #2 SS.  Hopefully we pick up someone in the draft to compete with him.  A real thumper type SS should be easy to find.

7.  I hope Ifedi is the #1 backup across the entire line, with a new #1 RG being added via the draft.  I figure there will be 8 OL on the 53, with Bars and either Coward or a T prospect rounding out the group.

8.  Would be hard to argue with injuries occurring.  You never know who it will be, but betting on previously injured players isn't a bad strategy.

9.  See #4.

10.  I think Foles can increase the level of play from the offense enough for the playoffs to be in the picture, especially with a 7th seed being added this year.  I think you can count on 3 wins out of 6 conference games,  2 against the NFC South, maybe 3 against the AFC south, W against the Giants, L against the Rams?  That would be 9 wins and is pretty conserative.  It really comes down to Nagy being able to operate his offense successfully.  I realllly hope Foles can get it done.

On paper yes.  Throughout his career he has not been able to do it for whatever reason.

2.  Daniels has to be better than what we saw last year.  Smith was getting it going the second half of the year.  Nichols has been a stud throughout for a fifth rounder.

Nichols showed flashes of being a real good player his rookie year and made us have high hopes for 2nd year jump that didn’t happen.  Could have been due to early season injury to his hand.

3.  Tolliver, Burns, Roberson seemed to be locked into a 2,3,4 battle at RCB.  Skrine at NCB, does anyone think Shelly may get bumped off the roster?  I do.

1) I think Toliver wins the job, but Burns elite speed will always make coaches want to give him a try.  2) I think Skrine, while not great, performed better than many people thought at NCB and was a pleasant surprise.   He kept Shelley as an after thought when many thought he may win the job in OTAs.  I think Shelley is still the future NCB, but it’s Skrine’s job right now.

4.  I was looking at this similarly, TE-U = Graham & Burton, TE-Y = Harris & Holtz, with Horstead on the roster as a TE-U of the future.  Shaheen and Braunecker are cut in this situation.

Yes.  I think they line Holtz up as a FB on occasion too.

That seems to be conventional wisdom.

6.  I think Bush should be the #2 FS and #2 SS.  Hopefully we pick up someone in the draft to compete with him.  A real thumper type SS should be easy to find.

I think Bush is front runner, but he has never been able to win the job to date.  So we’ll see.

7.  I hope Ifedi is the #1 backup across the entire line, with a new #1 RG being added via the draft.  I figure there will be 8 OL on the 53, with Bars and either Coward or a T prospect rounding out the group.

I think there will be at least 9 OL on roster.   I don’t think even the Bears know what they are doing at OL yet.  I think it is wait and see what shakes out.

I hate switching QBs because reps are so important.  So if Foles is going to be QB I hope he is QB from day one and doesn’t come in after or when MT struggles.

Can't say I disagree with much of these responses except maybe the last.

Maybe the greatest benefit to having acquired Foles is that he's made a career out being the single best "relief specialist" in the NFL. So while I might otherwise agree with you if anyone can stay prepared to come in to replace Mitch it's Nick Foles.  Hells Bells the guy became a SB MVP while playing in relief of Carson Wentz and now to find that his restructured deal is far more team friendly than we imagined I think we owe Pace a round of applause simply for having pulled it off that well.

I'm far more at peace with our QB situation now than I was before Foles was added to the mix.

People laughed at me for saying Bears should consider drafting Orlando Brown, Jr. after his combine performance (worst ever a dozen articles said - google it).

He made pro bowl last year.

The dude never missed a block on college tape.  Ever.

Tape > Combine.  Always.
