It’s irrelevant. Watson will literally underperform his contract here and never be the guy we are paying him to be. Enjoy perennial limbo land between 7-10 wins with a mid tier sexual predator and Andrew Berry continuing to run this team further into the ground.

Here’s what will happen:

2023: Watson continues to play mediocre football. Chubb regressed with shotgun runs. Stefanski is fired, Chubb is traded. Don’t worry a new scheme will help

2024: New coach comes in with new system; Watson plays mediocre football; Chubb rebounds for 1600+ yards elsewhere; turns out he’s not washed; Do t worry, Watson had growing pains in a new system

2025: Watson plays mediocre football; Chubb runs for 1600+ yards elsewhere again; New coach fired; Andrew Berry fired; We have one more year of this awful contract; Myles and our entire OL is now past their prime and the rebuild looks long and bleak

2027: With the first pick of the draft, the Cleveland Browns select:

What was the alternative? Keeping Baker not making the playoffs and getting to feel sorry for yourself?

I’d have traded 3 firsts for a guy on a rookie contract than 1/4 of a billion guaranteed for an overrated player 2 years out of the league

Literally play JB a year and trade 3 firsts for Stroud and that’s better or equal at worst.

I’m not even in a camp that is opposed to trading multiple first round picks for a transcendent quarterback. But we traded three first round picks for a guy who was suspended most of the season, is a character question, it’s debatable just how good (or great) he is, and we have a number of other spots that could use some improvement. Eff it though - just sell the farm and pay him $40M per year.
