Adding the 5 remaining years of cap hit(according to spotrac), it would actually be $11,247 a year for 5 years. 13,875+13700+13950+15950+17500=74,975. Divided by 5 is 14,995. Times .75 is 11,246.25. I got 71k in cap space, so that's not a deal breaker. It'll depend on what deals Linsley and Jones get and how the draft falls. EDIT: Guess it comes down to how the contract committee sees it, cap hits for last four years don't add up to the full extension amount. While it might seem redundant or like you’re stock piling at the position, it’s absolutely imperative if you want to make deep playoff runs.
