While we own no Lombardi's, is there a more stable franchise in the NFL over the last 62 years than the Vikings? They have been consistently good since 1967, with really really being awful during the Steckel season. All this is true while not really having a franchise QB ever since the Bengals ended Fran's career by breaking his leg. Kirk, the last 2 seasons like a franchise QB, but it sure took awhile for him to get there. The organization has the best training/practice facility in the league. They play in a top 5 stadium in front of fans that give them home field advantage. They have smart people on the sideline, arguably the best DC in football, a young, improving, engaged HC, the best receiver corp is the best in the league (with all due respect to Miami) and now a damn rocket scientist in the QB room! In this case, he relied on a guy he's known since he was a child to make the GM decision, which led to McDaniel's hiring. He needs to go outside his inner circle to make this next hire, otherwise their futility will continue.
