Another coach is departing the Raiders after team owner Mark Davis elected to fire head coach Josh McDaniels and General Manager Dave Ziegler late Tuesday night.

Offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi has been fired, according to Albert Breer of SI.com.

Al Davis was GM and Owner for 48 yrs until his death in 2010.  They've now had 2 GMs in the last 3 years and 4 since he passed away (and this will be the 5th).  It's absolutely dumbfounding.

The Vikings have had 5 GMs since 1999 (and one of them is still on staff...in Brz) and only 8 total since 1963.

While we own no Lombardi's, is there a more stable franchise in the NFL over the last 62 years than the Vikings?  They have been consistently good since 1967, with really really being awful during the Steckel season.  All this is true while not really having a franchise QB ever since the Bengals ended Fran's career by breaking his leg.  Kirk, the last 2 seasons like a franchise QB, but it sure took awhile for him to get there.

The organization has the best training/practice facility in the league. They play in a top 5 stadium in front of fans that give them home field advantage. They have smart people on the sideline, arguably the best DC in football, a young, improving, engaged HC, the best receiver corp is the best in the league (with all due respect to Miami) and now a damn rocket scientist in the QB room!  The Vikings future, if they keep their pillar players, is very, very bright!

It amazes me how dumb some of these owners truly are.

The Raiders were actually on the right path with Reggie McKenzie and Jack Del Rio, but it’s been nothing but gaffe after gaffe since.

I thought they should have stuck with Rich Bisaccia after he led them to the playoffs in 2021, instead of going after McDaniels. Was not a fan of McDaniels at any point in time and this stint just proved once again he isnt head coach material. Though if the Packers would have hired him instead of LaFleur, I would have been ecstatic.

The raiders hired him

Because Mark Davis has relied on people he shouldn't be relying on in making his hiring decisions.  In this case, he relied on a guy he's known since he was a child to make the GM decision, which led to McDaniel's hiring. He needs to go outside his inner circle to make this next hire, otherwise their futility will continue.
