I'm genuinely not certain how to take the Rodgers news, or whether it really matters in terms of the Bears.  Are we pissed GB won't be starting Love? Yes, a little. Are we amazed that they're going to try and shoehorn his salary in again, and hopeful that it cripples the team while he sulks about not having more pass catchers? Yeah probably. Are we puzzled as to why the Dow flipped around by 2 pts on the news? Yes, absolutely.

Whatever, unless Fields is good it won't matter, and even if he is they may not be relevant until 2023 thanks to last years can-kick of a season.

It’d probably NEVER happen, and I 10000% would not make a trade to make it happen… but Jordan Love as a developmental QB2 in Chicago would actually make some sense with Getsy running the offense.

Giving Aaron everything he wants and not trading him for a bag of goodies two years in a row is not a huge vote of confidence for Love.

They can keep him.   Ditka is kind of a moron, but he is right when he says be very weary of taking a player another guy had for awhile and doesn't want.

This Rodgers news has some silver lining.

It makes it easier for Poles to do the "soft rebuild" that this team needs without forcing it in 2022.

Also nice that Packers aren't getting a bag of fresh new young talent with all the goodies a Rodgers trade would bring.

Rodgers will eventually get old and feel it.

And I generally agree with that sentiment. Out of town stupid is 100% something in which I believe. This is different than usual though, because the guy keeping Love from playing happens to be the 2x reigning MVP. If Rodgers were a middle of the road starter the narrative here is almost surely 100% different.

I don’t think GB doesn’t want Love at all - I just think they (rightly) can’t justify anointing him over keeping a top 5 all time QB still performing at the top of his game, and because of that value to the Packers is highest as a trade piece, no matter how small the return. Love might be a serviceable starter in time (I’m not a huge fan but I don’t think anyone can rule it out yet) but serviceable starter would be a HUGE step backward for GB.

Doesn't really matter as far as the Bears are concerned. He’s not coming here anyway. He’s gonna probably fetch a mid-round pick if they trade him and we certainly aren’t paying that for him to be QB2.

He’s a toolsy project at this juncture which is ideal for a developmental QB2. That our OC already has familiarity with him would be an added bonus. I wasn’t looking any deeper than that on the idea.

Gambling is a special category of punishment because of specter of fixed games.  It has always been 1 year to lifetime ban depending on what you did.

This is spelled out to players

Further they all are monitored in all their gambling and it is not a secret that NFL does it.  They would have had to sign off on compliance forms for third party monitoring.

It seems rather innocent in a vacuum, but this is a special level of stupid.   Worse than smoking dope just before combine back in day.

He didn’t even wager through a buddy.

I get that...the point I am making is maybe they need to look at more serious matters in the same light...you know like knocking a woman inconsious should maybe carry the same type of punishment.

With the new money AR is getting and Adams being franchised how much does this now handicap the rest of the team in terms of affording good players? I understand the 2 mentioned are 2 of the very best right now at their positions but this may actually help the Bears, maybe. Maybe.

I am actually glad they are both staying in GB...1. It handicaps their spending ability...2. I don't want to beat a bad Packers team who will have the excuse of it only being cause Rodgers left...I want us to be building a team to beat Rodgers and anyone else...let's remember he is a a .500 QB in the playoffs...if we can't beat them we can't win much in the playoffs.
