I mean...guys are interchangeable these days. I don't know enough about Willis. He really does have the potential to improve in coverage. He has the possibility of developing into an elite SS. He isn't there yet imo. Had 2 good seasons as a box safety. If you'd already got a SS on your roster that is good as a dime backer/run support guy, imo it'd have been wasteful to go after him at this point in his career. Indy believes he is a future star for them, but their depth is also pitiful so it's not exactly a ringing endorsement.

He has given a nearly 125 passer rating. He allows a 74% completion rate. Meh, if he’s a safety his man cover ability isn’t too meaningful. There are safeties who can do that but even Minkah Fitzpatrick types are not asked to repetitively isolate and win in one on one battles. MWil23
I have literally never seen a safety in consistent man coverage because literally nobody runs cover 0 unless it’s Madden or on rare blitz red zone occasions, and even then it usually ends like it did for Baltimore when they tried it vs the Raiders the last play of the game last year. FS are usually halo, robber, cover 2, or ball hawk single high guys who might run the alley.

They gotta be able to cover to at least a coherent level. Giving up 74% completion rates...there's nothing coherent about that.

From Phillys standpoint I think it was a really smart move to get future assets. They now have 2023 flexibility in case Hurts isn't the guy
