Yeah, but they get a late 1st and they have been hitting on late picks better than any team lately and get two expirings.

Cavs have to make another move as they can't just go with TT/Zizic at C.

Yeah, this is a GREAT deal for the Lakers.

A healthy Isaiah Thomas >>> Jordan Clarkson, and LNJ = 2018 CLE 1st.  This is a HUGE win for the Lakers.

Except no one knows if IT will EVER be healthy again and he's a FA at season's end. Lakers already have Ball at PG, they aren't going to re-sign IT. This was just to clear cap space.

Even if he's not healthy, it's a pure salary dump for the Lakers.  It shouldn't be viewed as more than that right now.  The Lakers got essentially what they wanted out of moving Clarkson, a salary dump.  So then you look at the LNJ-for-1st swap, and given the play of Kuzma this deal works for the Lakers since they're giving up their 3rd PF for another pick.  And that's not factoring how well the Lakers have picked in that range.

It's a cap dump and you get back a protected first. Second time they've had to give up a talented young player for cap space. just gonna be great for all of us if/when the Lakers swing and miss on FAs again.

Right, and I'm saying it's salary dump nothing more nothing less. Plus you get a 1st rounder out of it. But IT is by no means in the Lakers future, so saying healthy Thomas>>>Clarkson is a moot point.

That's my point.  A guy like Jordan Clarkson isn't going to change the Lakers' fortune, so the ability to have more cap space and more room to work is more valuable.  A guy like Clarkson is more valuable to a team like Cleveland than it would be for the Lakers.

With IT now gone, the Cavs are going to be stuck with LeBron being the lone shot creator in the 4th quarter and that's a big problem. This is why their only hope of doing anything was IT being healthy and being able to score down the stretch as LeBron makes every team he goes to a pure isolation team. Clarkson isn't going to be able to help in that area either, or at least not enough. But as trash as IT is right now, Clarkson will give the Cavs better production and Nance will provide some energy that they lack.

Even if he doesn't suit up another game for the Lakers, they cleared Clarkson's contract from the books WITHOUT giving up any assets.  LIS, it's two trades wrapped up in one trade.

yeah is anyone sure that Clarkson is actually good? Feel like there was better use for the first, but I do like Nance a lot.
