Regardless of how I felt about Fields' talent in a vacuum, I would 100% bet on that partnership not working out well. There wasn't a worse spot for any of the Quarterbacks to go than Chicago, imo. Just like Lance, he has to tweak his throwing motion/wind up. But his accuracy was effortless in college. Like @Forge has mentioned, he probably landed in the worst possible spot of all the rookie. I'm not necessarily calling out his arm strength, but his ability to put the ball anywhere he wants on the field with touch. He's got plenty of arm for sure, but his effortless throwing of the ball with accuracy is crazy impressive. One thing that kind of stood out to me about Shanahan talking about why he liked Lance, was him mentioning Lance going to the right place with the ball when watching tape. That is definitely important, but also that is something you are supposed to coach up in a player. You can't teach what Fields has imo. Lance can improve his accuracy, which was a concern to me, and I'm happy with him as a player, but I still think I would have taken Fields if it was me. One thing Lance has going for him is he is still only 21 years old and has a lot of room to grow. If Lance reaches his ceiling, he's going to be a perennial pro bowl player.
