Superduperman
He was clearly outperformed by Malcolm Rodriguez in camp. Rodriguez has talent and had been featured on Hard Knocks, but the bottom line is he's a 5'11" 6th-round rookie and between him and Davis it's a no brainer. That ought to tell you a little something about Davis.

Superduperman
Here's what I was looking for. Jarrad Davis v. Malcolm Rodriguez in a nutshell Edited August 29, 2022 by Superduperman

lark25
To be fair Rodrigo is not a typical 6th round pick. 2022 was super deep at lb. Guys that normally get picked around rd5 like backup quality that could potentially start were udfas. If he was 6'3 with long arms hes a 2nd-3rd rounder, so no that doesn't tell you. bottom line is jarrad Davis didn't develop enough and was consistently one of the worst ranked lbs according to pff. You cant persevere with a guy like that at linebacker indefinitely.
PossibleCabbage
I was going to say "it's always noteworthy when a first round pick doesn't play out his contract" but then I looked it up and I completely missed that he had already left Detroit and signed with the Jets before coming back to Detroit.
