It does however keep them more vulnerable to attacks where Olave can take the safety's attention away. So it does work but if I think the offense can screw with them it's a plus to Cancun. It can go either way. It's a razor's edge on if it helps or hurts so roster and gameplan at O will matter on who O think this decision helps. Everything isn't black and white.
