Noticed a lot of this to be true. Just doesn’t have that clutch ability consistently. He has stretches of great play and stretches of drops. Still a good player just hope they can find fair compensation for him. TE isn’t an easy position to fill with a young player so at least they filled a need early.

This is why the Lions traded him. They had been talking with him on an extension but he wants unreasonable money and to be honest, if you watch him every game, he's not worth top dollar. No one is claiming he's trash but people claiming he's a top 3 TE are just wrong. He's not on  Kelce/Kittle/Andrews/Waller level. After them, they is a considerable gap. But Hock is probably top 10 because TE isn't a highly productive position anymore and people are still banking on his upside.

For the Lions, they were able to replace his production at a fraction of the cost, while improving draft capital and hopefully use that money to address other areas on the team. If the Vikings can re-sign him, it very well could be a win-win situation.

Goedert is pretty easily in that tier, too.

Well said. He’s good but can be frustrating at the same time.
