If you bump it back, it's still not perfect. Teams will get different players back from injury/healthier, and the bye advantage won't be as important if there every other team had a bye recently.

If you don't bump it back or have the game played, you're essentially taking the 1seed/bye away from Buffalo and giving it from Buffalo to KC. Seems a lot more unfair then giving a league wide bye/rest week because a player just had cardiac arrest on the field.

This might come down to a Bills forfeit, as distasteful as it sounds.

Yeah idk. Lose the 1 seed, lose the 2 seed, no more bye week or home field advantage, and now have to play in the wild card round because your brother/teammate is in critical condition. NFL should be able to come up with some plan.

Behind closed doors, there are likely 31 owners asking why they have to accommodate Buffalo. And that is what it will come down to, I fear.

We're not "essentially taking" or "essentially giving" anything. There were 18 weeks for each team to play 17 games, and it turns out 2 of them could only fit in 16 games, so we apply the rules as best we can.

So you think the owners of playoff teams would turn their nose at an extra week of preparation and rest?

Yes, because they're giving their opponents in the playoff that same exact week of rest. If I'm slated to play Baltimore in the first round, I don't want to give Lamar Jackson an extra week. Likewise, nobody in the NFC wants to give Jalen Hurts another week to heal up his shoulder.

First off Jim Irsay hasn't turned his nose up at anything under any circumstances ever, but excluding him, yes, every owner is going to want to keep their media contracts intact. No one wants to fiddle with the SB air time.
