Kendre Miller is a very solid RB prospect.  His MCL injury has limited his participation in pre-draft evaluations and maybe pushed down his draft stock a bit.  He would be a very good addition to our RB room.

Will do.

So if we add up all of the "confirmed" (I say this loosely because I had assumed Carter already had come based on the lists and he didn't until much later) and the rumoured, the Lions should be at 30 visits now. Whether there's a distinction between "Private Workout" and a "Private Visit" in the Top 30 or if they can do virtual visits.. it's hard to say.

I'd also be mindful of teammates of lower end guys at same positions being brought in. We brought in Rodrigo's fellow OK State LB in last year for a look. We know that they will ask about teammates in their interview process (this has been referenced before). I'm interested in seeing if there's a connection in prior BH draft classes.

Just remember, none of us know anything

With respect to Kendre Miller, they probably wanted to check out his progress on his MCL injury.

That would make sense.

Interesting note, I was listening to Dane Brugler on The Athletic podcast and they were discussing how a number of these visits are actually intended to rule guys out. Everything lines up on paper but they're trying to see if this person really is a fit for them and there's enough question marks around it where they want to bring them in to really nail it down.

Yea I forgot where I read this, but a lot of times, the visits are medical related. They didn't have enough info from the combine or pro day, so they need to check up in person.

It would be interesting to see how many of these guys had reported medical issues during the process and line up with the Top 30 visits.

The Lions have been to Florida a bunch of times so it would be interesting to see what happens with Torrence or any of the other Gators (including AR15).

They might be curious about Gervon Dexter.  He has NFL-ready strength and really good movement skills but his play has been inconsistent.  It is tough to figure out if the inconsistency is because of scheme/coaching or if it is more to do with the player.  Given the performance of Florida's defense and the lack of improvement across the board with a lot of their players, coaching and scheme could have been something that limited his development.  He seems like a bit of an enigma.

This is exactly one of those scenarios where they bring in a prospect that is a teammate of someone they're interested in to get the teammate's angle on them. Sure, they could be looking at Torrence as well (since they do have a need) but asking him about Dexter would take any smoke off of their interest in the DT.

Jartavius Martin, S, Illinois

This feels like the "let's bring in a teammate of our draft selection in order to firm up our report on him". This could either be Devon Witherspoon (most likely) or Sydney Brown (less likely). Vegas has us picking Witherspoon at #6.

Apparently there isn't an NFL team that has brought Calijah Kancey in for a visit - kind of shocking. Either teams really don't like him and he's off their boards or they like him so much that this is gamesmanship.

I don't think there is any intrigue with Kancey. He is what he is. At least from what I've heard from teams through interviews, they use the draft visits for questions they have (medical, character, not getting previous time with the player). He redshirted his freshman season, but he had 3 healthy college seasons after that. No real medical mystery. Kancey's biggest issue is size. It's on tape. It's at the combine. No interview will change or alter that.

Jartavius Martin is a really good prospect in his own right.  We only have CJGJ and Will Harris on one-year deals.  Jartavius Martin is a lot like CJGJ:  He can play slot CB or S at a high level.  Basically, he can play just about anywhere in the secondary.  We might get a bit of deja vu by taking an Illinois DB in the 3rd round.
