You are not winning a Super Bowl with Carr and this roster and that coach. If you felt you were a QB away, why not swing for Rodgers? Seems the better option was to push reset and look to the future. I love the Saints, but this feels very much a move to stay trapped in the middle. Absolutely. The Saints, contrary to popular opinion, aren’t horrible. And they have too much dead money to legitimately hit the reset button for 2-3 years. They’re too talented, especially on defense to be one of the worst 5 teams in the NFL. There is no tanking. The only option a were to be mediocre with Dalton, or perhaps be a playoff team with Carr. You take the plan that can put you in the playoffs. If an Eli Manning led Giants team can win the Super Bowl, anything is possible. Being afraid of being 1-and-done in the playoffs is loser mentality. Why didn’t the Saints get Rodgers? Well…for one he is in the Packers and the Saints would have issued our a lot of draft capital to get him. All for a guy who very likely is on the very tail end of his career, can quit at any time, and is an absolute misery to work with. They have little opportunity to get a bluechip QB this season. So our options were to get Carr and have a very legit chance to be the best team in the division, or continue with Dalton who will very likely only be good enough to get us to 7-9 wins Yes and that makes sense. All i am saying is similar to what @Kingram posted: You will need an elite defense because Carr isnt going to win it for you in the playoffs. He might give you that impression at stretches during the season, but in the end he won't make the difference.

A lot of Raiders fans seem to disagree with your assessment which seems abnormal for a departing QB. Carr being turnover prone, terrible in the red zone, and not being willing to stand tough in the pocket to make plays aren't opinions, they're facts. Half of the Raiders fanbase think Carr is Tom Brady level though.

You're in for a treat if you think there's any chance Carr takes you on a deep run in the postseason.

Carr doesn't need to. The defense is elite on paper. A lot easier to play QB with a lead, something he didn't have often in Oakland/Vegas. Since Carr entered the league teams have won like 84% of their games that the opposing team is held to 20 or less. IIRC Carr has won like 60% of those games during that same span. He's not good. Not likely but the Saints could have a home playoff game. The same statement could be made of every QB in the NFC outside of Hurts. Who’s the second most likely to have a late playoff game? Dak? Cousins? Beating a guy like Dak in the playoffs isn’t outside the realm of possibilities. Edited March 10, 2023 by sammymvpknight

BobbyPhil1781
Wait, when did the Raiders have a top 5 OL under Gruden?? I only remember them ever being good in '16, taking a step back in '17, then when Gruden came in, they sucked. Could be wrong though
