You think he's more of an early down DE for setting the edge against the run?

Yes. He's definitely not a finisher in the pass rush game, but neither was omenihu  imo. I think they may push him inside on pass rushing downs when he is in.

This team loves their big ends who can kick inside but can’t really rush from the outside

Yannick's market must not be that great and may be able to be had and then there is still Justin Houston roaming around. If we get Houston, then this strategy works out great. If Jackson is able to better prepare his body for year two and rush the passer as he did in the beginning of the season to go along with Houston and Bosa? Then we are set and will be able to use a bigger edge on base downs.

Thomas was a good bit more athletic, but not as long.

Ferrell is more of power rusher. He reminded me somewhat of Aldon Smith as prospect in terms of skillset. But Aldon's power was on a different level.

Ferrell has very little bend and lacks the burst to close against capable OTs.

But imo, he's the type of edge you pair with a real twitchy guy (Jackson) or a technician (Bosa) and he'll eat what's left on the table.

He gives us a different skillset outside and I think that's good thing.

He also was kicked inside alot in the nickel, which we love to do also.
