2023 WC Semifinals: (6) Golden State Warriors vs (7) Los Angeles Lakers

Donte becoming such a non-factor offensively thus far in the playoffs has been so disappointing. Would love for him to get 20 or so minutes a game but hard for him to get minutes if he is going to be shooting 31% from three and not look to be aggressive at all. This needs to change going forward because Poole is going to put up a stinker or two and then the bench play is going to be a big problem if Donte or GP or Green don't hit their open looks.

I believe this is the first time LeBron has won a game 1 against the Warriors. Crazy that all five meetings have taken place with the Warriors having home court.

Officials weren't the issue to be honest. Some questionable touch fouls but for the most part they were fine.

This series is going to need more J. Green if Draymond is not going to be taking or making his outside shots. Lakers are sagging off so much on him as they are with GP, Looney and even Wiggins. The best thing the Warriors can do is have AD's man set the ball screens from the perimeter and force him to come out leaving Looney alone in the paint to clean up the glass.

Poole gave what he needed to give but Donte is going to need a game soon where he is being aggressive and giving around 10 or so points. He was quiet for the most part against the Kings as well.

One thing I did like was that the Lakers despite the extra days off,  were the team that was more gassed in the 4th quarter. I see them punting game 2 if it gets away from them early in the 2nd half. Playing AD the entire 2nd half was interesting but he started to miss some bunnies as the legs started to get tired. AD will come down to earth some next game but it will come down to LeBron and if he could hit some jumpers and score 30+. He was far more aggressive than he was for the majority of the Grizzlies series.

Thursday night can't come quick enough.

There were a lot of issues. Were the refs the biggest? No. Did they call an even game? Nope. They called some nitpicky stuff on Golden State while letting the Lakers get away with physical defense. Golden State had plenty of dumb fouls, and that's on them. But the borderline stuff getting called and the blown calls/non-calls flowed overwhelmingly in one direction. That said, it'll probably even out over the course of the series.

Can make the case that Stephs motion was headed back to Draymond to get the ball back. Just cannot take that deep of a shot with 10 seconds left. Kerr and everyone on the team is gonna publicly say it was okay cause they’re not gonna throw him under the bus to the public but you know they weren’t happy with that shot. 10 seconds left is a lot of time. You could have gotten a shot that was more favorable especially with some ball movement and the Lakers players scrabbling to recover. There’s is only 1 player on that court that has that green light from 30 feet away.

Either way game 2. Kerr needs to spam the high screen with Steph. The length on defense is making it hard for Steph to work off ball. Kerr has been the best at making adjustments so hopefully he opens the game up.

I mean every game it is going to look like that with the Lakers having a big FT discrepancy. They can't shoot and shoot a bunch of shots in the paint so they are going to get to the FT line while on defense they funnel everything AD and he's going to get respect from the officials. Like not at one point in the game did I think we were down or struggling due to the refs. There is some stuff to clean up and we need to make adjustments and some of those were made in the 4th quarter.

Draymond at no point even looked back at Steph to set a screen. There was two on him when he got rid of the ball and when Vando closed out on Poole, AD was right there waiting to close out on Steph. Just was not going to happen.

Wiggins needs to hit his threes if they're going to sag off him. They really need him to find his three-point stroke again.
