i don't think i've come across a single big board on twitter that doesn't have holland 1-3, collier in the top 10, and castle like 26

I think big boards should be outlawed for this draft. I pretty much only look at 3 and they change wildly every day it seems.

I know this is a rough class but I just can't see Sheppard as a #1 pick option. His size is going to hurt his shooting numbers in the NBA, and although he tries on defense his size and athleticism are going to stand out there in the pros too. I think his ceiling is a Malik Monk, 6th man type. I don't think you can take a player like that #1 overall, even in a class like this.

It's more so of the fact he has a super high floor compared to guys like Sarr and Risacher. Same with Clingan.  I know what I am getting with both I think at the least Sheppard will be a three point specialist that can play defense.  In this draft I would take that any day of the week.  Obviously ranking him number 1 means I see him being more than that.

obviously the pistons were a dumper fire's dumpster fire and maybe a head coach who isn't trying to get fired in mid september will make a difference but marcus sasser really struggled to have any impact on defense this year. he's longer than sheppard but it just doesn't matter when you're that size trying to close out or rotate. guys can still see all the passing lanes, they're not scared of them at the rim, and they can just shoot over the top

You can't take a high floor low ceiling guy at #1 imo.

Yeah, Sasser is who I think of when I think of Shepard(obviously not a one to one situation). Try hard short guys do much better defensively in college.

I feel like Sheppard is more Jimmer Fredette than Malik Monk even.  We thought at least Jimmer would be a shooter but he couldn't get his shot off in the pros.  He shot decent percentages when he did but couldn't defend enough to stay on the court so only had more than 2 three pointers a game once in his career.

I agree there is zero chance he goes 1, and probably shouldn't go top 5.  Problem is most guys in this class shouldn't go top 5.

But I agree, the only teams who should worry about high floor are teams needing an instant impact role player.

My top 10 is pretty much based on upside as I don't think any of the floors are exciting enough to jump on in the lottery.  I think Sheppard and Knecht are guys who will be more Aaron Nesmith than JJ Reddick.  Clingan Will be a solid defender but don't think he is much more than a Jakob Poeltl, which is solid but not overly exciting.  Dillingham I think is going to struggle at his size and lack of D even though he might be exciting to watch.  He is a shorter Jaden Ivey which is a bad sign on defense. So these are the guys I think have the best upside/likelihood to reach the upside ratio in this class.

1. Zaccharie Risacher
2. Alex Sarr
3. Ron Holland
4. Matas Buzelis
5. Donovan Clingan
6. Cody Williams
7. Stephon Castle
8. Tidjane Salaun
9. Ja'Kobe Walter
10. Kel'el Ware

League insiders believe that a trade between the Rockets, who have the No. 3 pick, and the Grizzlies, who offer the No. 9 pick and Marcus Smart, is something to monitor, per

“The idea that the Rockets could trade Wednesday's No. 3 overall pick to Memphis for No. 9 and Marcus Smart — so the Grizzlies can draft Donovan Clingan — is being mentioned with increasing regularity by various league insiders.”

Rockets helping out another division team would be stupid as hell.

Smart does nothing for me.
