Well of course you are also trying to pin them with that so it takes away that small part. Then on top of that the ball will be on the ground far longer which means increased chances of it going OB or getting returned beyond the 25. Not exactly. if you catch the ball outside of the endzone but within the 25 yard line, you can call a fair catch and get it at the 25 yard line.
