It’s more of a western and I think the Academy might recognize that. We’ve seen upwards of 10 films nominated for Best Picture and it 100% deserves one of those slots. I know 10 is the max but it usually ends up being 8 or 9. I loved Logan, don't get me wrong, but it's still not usually something the Academy goes for. It's got stiff competition from the films I listed in the OP plus a couple of others I didn't mention. 15 minutes ago, thrILL! said: Definitely made a case for it but I think Thierry Arbogast has an argument too for Valerian which looked breathtakingly gorgeous as well. Valerian wasn't that great and won't get any recognition.

I don't disagree about Valerian's cinematography, some gorgeous shots, it's tough for such a commercial and critical failure to get any recognition. JonStark
Any chance James McAvoy gets a best actor nod for Split? Also, off topic but I must be the only person out there who hated Gravity.

No not much of a chance About Gravity, the technical aspects (visual effects, cinematography, sound, etc) were great, which it swept those categories at the Oscars, but I don't think it was a Best Picture winner. I think 12 Years a Slave was the right call.
