With the 48th pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Edgerrin Cooper, LB, Texas A&M

Texas A&M's Edgerrin Cooper named Co-SEC Defensive Player of the Week

Bengals are on the clock @Kiltman

Why would the Jags go off ball LB? They already have 2 of the best, and Muma as a backup.

While the Jaguars will lean more on four-linemen sets on defense, expect the team to mostly have two linebackers and five defensive backs on the field. Barring a surprise, that’ll be Foye Oluokun and Devin Lloyd in the starting lineup with Ventrell Miller and Chad Muma behind them on the depth chart.

That’s a situation that’ll probably be fine in 2024, but Oluokun’s contract is set to automatically void after the season and it’s tough to feel too confident about Miller, a fourth-round pick who missed his entire rookie year, or Muma.

Don’t be surprised if the Jaguars hunt for a talent upgrade to eventually pair with Lloyd in the middle of their defense.

So they're gonna draft a LB in round 2 to red-shirt for 2024, in case Oluokun leaves after the season? OK.

Its a need and he was one of the best players available.  Relax

This is typical Jeezla during draft season.

Though I'm surprised he hasn't tried to say we should trade our 5th round pick, Nakobe Dean, and Jordan Davis to the Steelers for our 3rd round pick back or some crazy stuff like that yet this offseason.

A team wanting Nakobe Dean would be pretty crazy. Take him out, and that's a fair trade. We can take Khristian Boyd in the 5th to do what Jordan Davis does. Use that 3rd on Mason McCormick. I like it.
