redsoxsuck05
Looking at Noelvi Marte's stats (and Tatis) and I can't help but reminisce when the majority of this board were steroid truthers who thought they had zero impact on player performance (or everyone's doing them, whenever it's convenient) It's like millennials had a collective teenage rebellion against 2000s-era sportswriters and formed a reactionary cult around Bonds, Sosa, and McGwire. I am in agreement with this take. It was easy to rally against many of those writers because it seemed that they were the ‘old men yelling at clouds’ who had not embraced analytics and how teams were evaluating players- and some still don’t- but they were right.

It was amusing to see my generation (the Fire Joe Morgan and Deadspin guys) turn into their own insufferable bloc of sportswriters.

naptownskinsfan
Gunnar tied Cal Ripken for the amount of home runs by an Orioles shortstop in a season, 34. He’s got an entire month to beat it……..though he was on pace for so many more.
