There are certain niches that will keep players in the NFL for a long time. Jim Kleinsasser comes to mind for his elite blocking ability as a Tight End. For Nwangwu, being a great kick returner isn't enough. Even Devin Hester and Cordarelle Patterson have had to produce on offense to stick around! SemperFeist
If he’s such a great kick returner, then why wasn’t he returning kicks? This new kickoff style completely changes things. It’s more like returning a punt than it is returning a traditional kickoff. What worked for Nwangwu before, may not work for him now.
SteelKing728
Maybe the only thing I can find disappointing is that we weren't able to trade Roy/Nwangwu/Cine and get any draft capital that we could get. With Cine, teams always give 1st rounders 2nd and 3rd chances it seems. Also funny thing with Roy was that in the early 2023 mock drafts some people had him listed as a 1st round pick. Ozzy
It is pretty nuts, around the league there is a decent amount of rookies drafted this year that were straight up cut. Colts cut 3 draft picks one from the 5th, 6th and 7th round. Making an active NFL roster is brutal.

So either before he played a snap, or after trying to recover from a compound fracture that took his rookie season?
JDBrocks
This kind of stuff is why Cine didn't make the roster. Had the RB dead to rights, but is so slow and indecisive that he whiffs on a spin move in the hole. He just has no confidence and it makes him slow. Bad tackler.

swede700
For all the talk about how Cine was a bad pick...I'm not sure there was one worse in recent history than the 49ers one...
vike daddy
McCain and Gaskin are vested veterans who were not subject to waivers and are eligible to sign wherever they want immediately, and they’re choosing to stay where they are. Players who are put on waivers have to go to any team that claims them, but players not subject to waivers become free agents as soon as they are officially released. The 31-year-old McCain signed with the Vikings a month ago after previously spending six seasons with the Dolphins, two with the Commanders and one with the Giants. The 27-year-old Gaskin was the Dolphins’ starting running back for a couple of years but last year only played special teams, never offense, in stints with the Rams and Vikings. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/vikings-signing-bobby-mccain-and-myles-gaskin-to-practice-squad

vike daddy
Will Ragatz, SI.com: "The Vikings reportedly waiving Richter and Carter means their outside linebacker room seems fairly set. Earlier on Tuesday, news emerged that they'll be placing rookie OLB Gabriel Murphy on IR with a designation to return. Barring a surprise, the Vikings will likely open the season with five OLBs on the roster: Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel, Dallas Turner, Pat Jones II, and Jihad Ward." "One imagines that the Vikings would love to land Richter and Carter on their practice squad as developmental depth options. That would require them to clear waivers on Wednesday." https://www.si.com/nfl/vikings/roster-moves/report-vikings-waiving-rookie-olb-and-preseason-standout-bo-richter-01j6aadcxk9x
