Their best player is Hendrickson. But I think they’re overrated as a defensive unit & are gonna be somewhere around 16 or lower this year.

Hendrickson is the best defensive player and had 17.5 sacks last year. He generates pressure at a high rate, comparable to Garrett, Watt, and Crosby. Which is why he wants a raise.

Two years ago the Bengals had one of the best safety pairings in the league with Jesse Bates and Vonn Bell. They let both leave last year and replaced them with second year first rounder Dax Hill and free agent Nick Scott. Scott was terrible and Hill not very good. So they signed veteran free safety Geno Stone who had 7 picks last year and brought Vonn Bell back to keep things organized on the back end. Jordan Battle was a pretty good rookie safety too.

So I doubt the team leads the league in plays of 20+ yards allowed again. Reader and his backup Josh Tupou are gone. But we brought in Sheldon Rankins, Kris Jenkins, and McKinnley Jackson. We won't lack for beef in the middle of the line again. Our question marks are at outside cornerback. Chido Awuzie was very good in 2021 and 2022 until he tore his ACL. He wasn't as good in 2023 and the team let him go. But we haven't really replaced him, except with a 5th round rookie. Cameron Taylor-Britt is very competitive but was up and down last year. Likewise DJ Turner, who started well and finished poorly.

Washington will have a top 10 defense this season(24'), after being 32nd in 2023. Guarantee it!

With Dan Quinn as Head Coach & running his D-scheme? Plus, our FA additions & draft?

I'm expecting to see Washington, look very similar to what Dallas has looked like the last few seasons.

Good at creating turnovers! 👍

Remind me of your free agency additions. Offhand, after trading Sweat and Young, it looks like the Commanders won't have much pass rush. And your CB room was thin to begin with. Forbes didn't impress last season.

    Unweighted aggregates tend to be more helpful on defence.  These are snapshots of ordinals (i.e. lower is better) taken after the 2023 season versus immediately after the 2024 draft:

Quinn’s only fielded an above average defense once as a HC. Also won’t have a deep CB room and Micah Parsons (but will have better LBers tbf), I’m not expecting much out of Washington’s D. Maybe average/above average if things shake out well.

Well if ace guarantees it, then I definitely believe it! Can't think of a time he's been wrong.

Hendrickson is IMO an average DE. Yes he had 17.5 sacks last year but 8 the year prior. Reader did not play as glamorous position but I think he played it just as well if not better than Hendrickson. The Bengals D was really bad without Reader.

My point is if Hendrickson is your best player, you ain't that good.

Hendrickson is literally a top 8 Edge in this league. You point to 8 sacks the year prior while ignoring 14 the year before that and 13 the year before that. Not to mention no Edge has created more turnovers as a result of pressure than him over the past 3 years per NGS.

So 25.5 the last two years? And 27.5 the two year prior to that (14 and 13.5)? Lmao. Must be only like 7 above average edge rushers in the league.

I'll believe it when I see it when it comes to the Packers. I don't think our defense is as talented as other Packers fans do. I'm not a huge Rashan Gary fan and I think we have a lot of question marks in the secondary and at ILB.

I didn’t realize the Titans were that low. With the additions they made on defense, and with the gameplan no longer being “score 13 points and then hope the defense pitches a shut out the remaining three quarters while the offense runs on third and 10 and then punts,” I could see them moving up into the teens easily.

You gotta love their positional Ease Of Schedules for the ground game, at least:

== AFC-S Offensive Ease of Schedule Overall and by Position, Frequencies ==

Off 0301 QB EofS Fr | RB EofS Frequency | WR EofS Fr | TE EofS Fr || Win/Loss
EoS 2024 '24 2023    |'24 2023 Rn Ps Use |'24 2023    |'24 2023    || '24-[23]
                     |                   |            |            ||
1st Tenn   9 [18] 3  |  1 [11] 21 10  16 | 11 [28] 28 |  1 [ 2] 23 ||  12-[18]
 24 Indi  23 [26] 15 | 21 [31] 11 28 T20 | 16 [22] 13 |  8 [21] 16 ||  11 [11]
 30 Jkvl  26 [ 7]  5 | 24 [30] 16 25 T23 | 19 [32] 14 | 18 [19]  6 ||  24-[25]
 31 Hous  21 [27] 12 | 26 [ 2] 25 30  30 | 24 [31]  7 | 24 [ 7] 13 ||  28-[ 5]

Now the draft, a RT then three defenders, makes more sense.
