Vikings DT Jerry Tillery was down for a few minutes. The cart came out, but instead Tillery got on the golf cart. Didn’t look good at all. He’d been taking reps with 1s in 5-down looks at DT.

Sam Darnold and J.J. McCarthy were both were effective Saturday's practice in using their legs to escape the pocket, buy time and improvise.

One of the day's best highlights occurred when Darnold left the pocket and worked to his left before finding running back Aaron Jones in the end zone. Jones made an impressive leaping catch for the touchdown. Darnold also scrambled around on a fourth-and-goal from the 5 before getting the ball to Brandon Powell for the score.

His day included occasionally changing arm angles and placing the ball well and in rhythm for several completions to Justin Jefferson on a variety of throws.

McCarthy also showed his mobility and some coolness in extending plays, as well.

Will Ragatz from Si.com thought both QBs had good days on Saturday: “Biggest takeaway for me was the chemistry between Darnold and Jefferson, who connected a bunch of times. McCarthy also had some good moments.”

VikingsTerritory’s Sean Borman shared a similar sentiment: “Can’t remember the last time I said this…the Vikings have multiple quarterbacks playing well right now.”

Vikings announce cancellation of Monday night’s training camp practice

Weather is not expected to cooperate with the Vikings' training camp schedule. A forecast including a 90 percent chance of rain and possible thunder will prevent the purple and gold from taking the practice field on Monday night.

The team's official website shared that Monday's night practice is canceled and is rescheduled for one week later on Monday, Aug. 12. Those who purchased tickets for the practice will receive a refund and tickets for the new night practice date will be on sale Aug. 5 at 10 am.

Monday's night practice on Aug. 5 was also expected to have every Minnesota Vikings position group toss autographed footballs into the stands for fans watching the practice from Land O' Lakes, Inc. Practice Fields at TCO Stadium. That is expected to happen on the rescheduled date.

On the outside looking in; I think he's as good as gone.

Booth is healthy but he has rarely played. Duke Shelley, Ward and McGlothern have taken most of the snaps with the No. 2 defense. A.J. Green III and 2023 undrafted cornerback Jaylin Williams have earned as many — if not more — reps than Booth. Similar to Cine ($5M), the Vikings would be dinged about $1.7 million by cutting him, but that’s a minor tax to hang onto someone like Murphy or McGlothern who could become major contributors.

Nothing hugely surprising...outside of maybe Jurgens being listed as backup LG, Tillery is listed as starter and despite what some think about here, Booth is high on the depth chart, still ahead of McGlothern and Duke Shelley.  And it appears, at least, that based on the changes to the kickoff, that may have hurt NaJee Thompson the most.

Yes, it does.  I would think a lot of that is because those guys may need the reps more than Booth does. They likely already know what they are getting out of Booth. And it should also be noted that not all practices are open to the media and public.

The depth chart is released by an intern who runs the team’s website. It’s not released by the coaches.

Walter Rouse and 2024 draft classmate Dallas Turner faced each other in 1-on-1 pass rush drills. Turner executed a rip move on the first, but Rouse minimized the outside linebacker's impact on the second rep.

Pat Jones II continued his solid camp, creating a nice pressure to force an incompletion during a team period.

Akayleb Evans was able to disrupt a pass intended for Addison in the red zone, and he secured the football after a ricochet.

Byron Murphy, Jr., came up with one of the best pass breakups of the day when he played a deep pass to Nailor cleanly to deny a catch on third-and-8.
