Reddick isn’t dumb. He wants his money and this is the way he feels he can get it. Imagine he come back and get hurt on his first snap.

He's dumb, he's too old to have good leverage on this.

Yes he is. He is losing money he will never get back and is losing value. There is no benefit in holding out this long. He is going to be a 31 year old pass rusher who had 0 sacks in 2024 trying to get a big contract? Yeah ok.

His agents told him to show up, his family and friends are telling him to show up.

None of that matters. We’re looking at it from a selfish standpoint. Why would he risk his health with no financial security?

I'm looking at it from a financial perspective. He is losing money he will never get back, significant money and he risks being retained by the Jets next season.

All he had to do was show up and the Jets would have upped his salary for the season so he would have made probably like $20+ mil this season.

Teams hung up on the Eagles when the Eagles were shopping him, he had a great run but reality is he'll be a 31 year old seeking massive money after 0 sacks in 2024.

1. You don’t know what he’ll get on the open market, it only takes one team.

2. “probably”

3. If teams hung up on the Eagles and Howie still managed to get a conditional 3 out of Joe Douglas then we have major issues.

Reality is this is how the business works. Mistake 1 was trading for him for the Jets. Mistake 2 was not paying him after trading for him knowing he wanted a new contract while giving up a premium asset.

For Reddick he’s gotta stand for something. You say he won’t get paid next season but if he plays and gets hurt then he damn sure won’t get paid. You should never play without financial security.

This isn't how the business works. Very few people get this committed into holding out. The only other player I remember doing it was Leveon Bell and he had the idiot Jets there to sign him and it failed miserably.  But Leveon never made up the money he missed out on and he said he regretted it.

The Jets and Reddick's agent had a deal agreed to that would have paid Reddick a lot this season. Reddick then ignored his agents and decided he didn't want to sign anything. Hes ignoring every person who advised him. So I am not sure how this is "usual" or how the business works. He is destroying his value every day and is going to lose $20 mil this season.  He is in fact dumb.

This is how the business works when you trade for a guy who wants a new contract. He’s going to dig in until he gets what he wants or either side caves. He didn’t want a 1 year deal, he wanted long term security. And he’s not gonna give that up because YOU think he’s dumb and YOU would play without long term security.

This is Joe’ fault though. I bet you it Reddick was a former Rodgers teammate he’d have a contract, seems to be the only guys getting deals on the Jets.

Reddick didn't want to get out of Eagles but he wanted a long term contract to be ready before he stepped on the field.   JD was that dumb to think he would make Reddick change his mind about his original stance.  It is on JD.

Now, as the season is progressing Reddick could make a mistake rejecting a contract that helps "recouping" his 2024 loss. I think he should take it and play this year and then hit FA for big money afterward. Unfortunately, he still doesn't change his stance on contractual plan.  It reminds us JD is still that dumb because he lost 3rd round pick for nothing. lol.

Anyway, rushing edge offers better longevity than running back so this aforementioned comparison isn't logical at all.

Did you miss when Reddick had a presser saying that he didn't care about the contract, that it will work itself out, and that he was going to give the Jets everything he had? I guess you missed that part that he said one thing then went back on it.

Financially he is making dumb move, there is a reason why his agency dumped him. He is dumb. He will come out of this losing money vs making money, he will never get the money that he lost. No one in the business agrees with what he is doing only a person who isn't good with numbers would think this was smart.

Joe Douglas offered a multi-year deal, Reddick declined. They felt comfortable with what he was saying that they could come to an agreement. Reddick then went AWOL and just ignored his agency and everyone. Lets stop pretending like this is a normal situation and this should have been predicted. This is not a normal situation and only Reddick knows what he wants. Obviously an agency dumping you means they don't agree with what you are doing, the Jets had an agreement with the agency to pay Reddick huge money this season and he still declined. Why would the Jets at this point want this guy on their team long term? He'll be 31 after the season and most likely his best football is behind him.
