Wait?!?

No waiting.

I just read an old article about The Beatles making their first televised appearance and the columnist said they sucked.

Passing fad.  Never amount to anything.  Ed Sullivan should be ashamed.  Ashamed!

When you know you know.

What did you expect from a guy one of whose star attractions was Topo Gigio.

Not sure there is a player who's more heartbreaking to watch get injured over and over again than Tua.  Like Tarik Cohen's workout video was rough but seeing concussions play out live (again) really makes me question NFL fandom even more than being a Bears fan.

I sometimes feel that the helmets and pads create more injuries, rather than prevent them.

Ive said for a long time, if the NFL was serious about head injuries, they would start with taking away these helmets. Its not anyones fault, but over the last 80(ish) years, we've crafted a weapon on their heads.

There's a reason that while other serious injuries happen, Rugby does not have the head injuries like Football does.

If they were serious, they would get rid of the plastic shoulder pads (like Hockey/Lacrosse), and the Helmets would be somewhere between the Guardian caps an Lacrosse Helmets. Something that can  cushion the blows a bit and protect the face, but would not stand up to being used as a projectile

But since its harder to actually see a concussion (outside of the Tua/Fencing stuff) they dont care all that much, and neither do the players at a whole, because they all keep signing up for it.

As someone who played rugby to a high level in my younger days I can tell you it is only one thing that prevents injuries in comparison to the NFL and that is having proper tackling technique...don't wrap your arms in a tackle in rugby and it is 10 minute sin bin putting your team at a massive disadvantage...hit someone high in the head and it's a red card and your gone for the rest of the game...don't tackle in the hit zone (below the sternum in all rugby and in a lot of youth rugby above the knees to teach good form for life) and it's at least a penalty for the other team that in your own half will often lead to points against you...

Given the clear rules on how tackles should be made and the penalties being so severe for not following that tackle technique everyone learns it...in American football too many guys still want to go out there and just make a big hit then jump about celebrating it...it's an ego thing and that drives poor tackling habits and only leads to people getting hurt on both sides of the hit.

Absolutely correct, technique is where it starts. But this part, the “jacked up” generation was all aided by providing battle armor to players. If you took that away, those type of hits would disappear real quick.
