You conveniently leaving out how we significantly changed offensive schemes which impacted a lot of them not being retained.

Also, pointing out other failures doesn't make Bruce Allen any less of a failure.

Most of those players weren’t draft picks - Kory L, Chester & Polumbus were signings - and the combination of Allen and McClouhan drafted the OL replacements and WR replacements for Djax/Garcon.

What players were draft picks under Shanahan that we didn’t keep solely because of the scheme change when we hired Gruden?

I can’t think of anyone.

You’re making assumptions.

Okay, let's assume they keep all of the starters and throw Crowder in for good measure. They jump to SEVEN in three years.

Ok.  But the best players on our team: T Will, Kerrigan, Jordan Reed were picked by the previous regime.  Other than signing Josh Norman what star player has Bruce Allen added to this roster?

I'm by no means saying that PFT is the one true source for information, but they were a handy-dandy "top 100" of free agents. Here's what's left per their ranking (excluding RFAs, they only had two anyway):

Quote

9. Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh (released March 14).
13. Seahawks defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson.
21. Giants offensive lineman Justin Pugh.
24. Bills cornerback E.J. Gaines.
26. Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu (released March 14).
27. Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro.
29. Falcons defensive end Adrian Clayborn.
36. Packers safety Morgan Burnett.
39. Dolphins center Mike Pouncey (released March 15).
40. Raiders inside linebacker Navorro Bowman.
41. Chiefs defensive tackle Bennie Logan.
44. Chargers safety Tre Boston.
47. Colts guard Jack Mewhort.
48. Ravens center Ryan Jensen.
53. Bears linebacker Pernell McPhee (released).
55. Lions tight end Eric Ebron (released March 14).
56. 49ers safety Eric Reid.
63. Colts cornerback Rashaan Melvin.
67. Jets cornerback Morris Claiborne.
68. Cardinals receiver Jaron Brown.
75. Bills receiver Jordan Matthews.
76. Washington receiver Terrelle Pryor.
78. Washington linebacker Junior Galette.
80. Ravens receiver Mike Wallace.
86. Bears receiver Kendall Wright.
87. Rams outside linebacker Connor Barwin.
90. Lions linebacker Tahir Whitehead.
93. Falcons defensive lineman Derrick Shelby (released).
94. Rams center John Sullivan.
96. Bills linebacker Preston Brown.
99. Cardinals safety Tyvon Branch.
100. Cardinals cornerback Justin Bethel.

Basically, only a third remains after "two" days (realistically four).

Separated out by position:

Quoting since it got paged.

Well now you’re not making my earlier point. Like I said to MikeT14, no team ever keeps all of their draft picks on their second contract because most of the time they can’t afford to.

And would be in line with what the best organizations in the NFL are doing like the Steelers and Packers.

Keeping two picks a year is in line with the Steelers and the Packers? I believe @MikeT14 (?) pointed out they've gotten more than that earlier in the thread.

Yes, and I give Shanahan props for that, but that’s 3 players in 4 years - not a good rate. We’re also talking about draft picks and Bruce Allen has only the 2014 and 2016 drafts so far where he ran them.

Its too early to tell what will come for last year’s draft class, but if I had to wager I’d definitely put Jonathan Allen down as a star or superstar.  I think Fabian Moreau and Montae Nicholson have a good chance to develop into good starters. I also think that’s Perine does still have a chance to be our future starter at RB, that just all depends on what direction we go in the draft.

2 or 3 year stick long term. Most of their draft picks don’t get second contracts with the team. As a Steelers fan too I can tell you off the top of my head, just tell me what years you want. Both franchises hit more than they miss, but let’s not act like in the last few season them as long as the ravens haven’t had some huge misses because they have.

That in turn is called "a NFLPA grievance waiting to be filed."
