Alright the FA transaction workbooks have been updated with the latest patch if you will.

Again, you'll be able to continue to build similar contracts to the Nate Solder deal, but they'll be greatly devalued.

New workbooks....New problems.

Hopefully that will at least hold us over until we can get a better solution in place.

I feel like people really overestimate Sherman's value in a trade. With his age, coming off a serious injury that may really take another year before he's back 100% (achilles tears are like that), and at that contract, there's just not a huge market for that. I was offered Sherman, and I passed and really didn't think twice about it...and I have to have one of the most cornerback starved teams in the league.

Bingo.

I save close $11 million in cap space. For a team that has serious issues elsewhere and needs the money? That’s enough for me to justify it.

Weatherly is a developmental pass rusher, decent length and athleticism. Collins, while a little on the light side, has a nice athletic profile and provides competition on the right side of my offensive line.

Rather than outright cut Sherman (which was ultimately what I’d do if I couldn’t trade him) to save money, I got two at-worst rotation players. No one offered anything better than what I got. So I took what I could.

Discuss if you see the situation from a different light. A little deeper than what I’ve seen though, please.

Why did you ask for a first from the Buccs for Sherman then lol. If you hit back with near free I'd have been interested

I didn’t?..

I asked for Lavonte David for ET, or any other LoB. Then I asked how you felt about Sherm and you gave a fairly negative sentiment.

I went to those with cap space, asking for a 3rd, or a 4th and 5th, a developmental piece and a pick.. no one wanted to bite. For God’s sake, I almost pulled the trigger on LeRaven Clark and a 5th.

If he’s so valuable why did no one offer anything when I made it clear that it was a fire sale on the guy. No one here wanted an already declining Sherm and his torn Achilles, $11 million hit. I needed to clear cap space now so I can participate in Free Agency.

I took that as Sherman in the same spot replacing Thomas as a counter. As if ET Sherman and David were all close in value. I brought up age and Achilles as no go for anything involving David. Probably my miscommunication.

Fair bit of miscommunication on my side. I didn’t really carry the convo on. But my guy, I was hitting everyone up and offering Sherm for next to nothing.

I’m trying to establish a Patriot-like model in regards to team building: keep your franchise QB safe, have role-players and cost-efficient talent at the skill positions, have a few playmakers on defense surrounded by specialists/average-to-above average starters.

I admit, if Sherm comes back at only 75% of what he was? Vikings got a great player at a great price.

But the Hawks have to move forward. Problematic, overpriced pieces are gone. Hell we almost made the playoffs with all our “defensive stars” hitting the injury report and injured reserve.

Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, Richard Sherman, Harrison Smith & Andrew Sendejo in my secondary now. And I traded two players who wouldn't see much time on my roster at all.

Will be interesting to see if Sherman starts the year on PUP or not.  Achilles tendon ruptures/surgeries recovery time is not unusual to be 12+ months before back to full acceleration and speed.

Yeah, sure. We have the pieces to accommodate that, too. I also just want him in tow as an extra coach for Waynes, which could be invaluable for a team primed to contend.

You are right that he may have more value as a mentor until he is fully ready to go....if he gets there.

I'm more than OK with that. I don't believe at all that he won't return from injury just fine given where modern medicine stands right now but it's all good any which way for me.
