At least you had a solid year and shown solid improvement in the second half. QB looks like he will continue to grow into a solid player!

Solid output is about the best you can hope for from a Butthole.

So this is a lengthy one. There are a lot of players I like but don't love. I will probably be forcing myself to draft a little more needs based this year because I haven't really drafted and DL yet, and it's showing. I also would like to add a large safety to play at SS, I likely won't be able to get the first 5 people on my board, so the late 1st guys are who I am looking at at pick 15. I really like Kugbila at 6'4, but hes only 208 lbs, and I'm concerned with all of the safeties' 40 times. I like my safeties to be 90 speed to cover ground.... Mike Jones SS is 5 inches shorter, but 24 lbs heavier. My current FS, Clancy, is 6'1 217, so I could move him to SS if needed.

I have a plan in place, but it all revolves around WR Nate Jacquet. He didn't go to the combine, and I think I want to take that risk. But if I am going to, I need to move down somewhere to get another pick so I have a shot at someone else if he ends up being slow af.

Here is who's left. I want to trade down since there are so many guys I like here, but the offers are dog ****. Do I want a huge, slow WR with great intangibles? A safety to fill my average starting SS, and if so, which one? The taller, more athletic free safety only, or the stocky but still athletic safety that couple probably play either position, but more naturally fits my SS need.  I like Nick Cosby, but I don't love him, plus he is 23. Same goes for Vinnett. Briscoe is an interesting choice too because I could always use another solid back; once the starter gets hurt, your offense really struggles.

With the 16th pick in the 2020 NFL draft, the Toronto Bills select:

r1M2Y6nm.jpg

Ultimately, I go with Kugbila. I love the size too much to pass on. This means I will probably need to move Clancy over to SS, but that's okay. But Kugbila has 90 speed! That's what I was most concerned about and he checks that box. Probably means that Mike Jones is 89, which would have been okay. Disappointing that he is normal dev, but they can't all be stars. Ultimately I am very happy with this pick. Kugbila will step in at FS and be a day 1 starter

  • WR Shazier gets selected one pick later by the Cardinals
  • Mike Jones is picked 18 by the Titans
  • Cleveland takes WR Kaddu 20th
  • The first QB Everrett Way is picked 25th by the Giants
  • Vinnett gets picked next by the Texans
  • Andy Dalton has a career year, and the Bengals reward him by selecting QB Kain Moore 27th
  • The Saints, who lost Brees for the 2nd time in 3 years, take QB Cain 28th
  • Cosby goes 29th to the Steelers, damn
  • The Rival Jets take QB Annen with the 2nd pick in the 2nd

Now I’m with pick 2.4. I have said that my plan is to take WR Jacquet, but I need to get another pick in the mid rounds here for my plan, so let’s see what kind of trade offers I have. I really like HB Briscoe, but that’s even more of a luxury pick than Jacquet would be.

Trade
BILLS   RAVENS
2020 2.8 for 2020 2.6
2020 3.8   2020 6.6
    WR S. SAMUELS 79 ovr

Samuels was sitting in my WR4 spot, and he will be the Ravens WR1. THey offered me a trade and I modified it to include him. They are effectively trading their 3rd round pick for Samuels and a 6th, and moving up 2 spots for….. HB Briscoe. Well that worked out nicely for them, because I would have taken him if I stayed put.

Okay, so here’s where this draft could make or break me….

YSkWrwVm.jpg

Awesome. Back in Madden 15 or 25 whatever it was, whenever the combine started, I took a player who skipped the combine and he was a 87 rookie. Since then I have always wanted to take those guys, but I have never had another good player. Jacquet bucks that trend. 90 is plenty fast enough, and the rest of the physical attributes are good enough. Jacquet will step in as WR2 (probably)

I am up again - with pick 2.15, the Bills select:

2u9Oh3jm.jpg

Okay so I expected Jeanpierre to be ranked a little lower, because I will be moving him inside where he will see an ovr jump,m but this is pretty damn disappointing. THis is a miss at a pick I didn’t think I would be missing on. Honestly I thought this would be the safest of the 3 picks I’ve made thus far based on my drafting history. ****

The Panthers take DT Blair 67th overall. I passed on him because he apparently was lazy at his pro day, and I thought Jeanpierre was a safer pick.

I am up at 3.15. I really hate where this board has fallen for the DL… without being able to maneuver around the board, I have to take what I can get. This may seem like a bit of a luxury pick, but I am really hoping it pays dividends.

With pick 3.15, the Bills select:

Need I say more? I’m in a position now where I am absolutely stacked with young talented WRs. I will be putting a couple of the other guys on the trading block next year and see what kind of picks I can recover for them. Procter will be my WR2 now, and Pacquet will play out of the slot. This offense is gonna be lit

Moving into the 4th round where I have 2 picks, one from the trade down with the Ravens. There are 4 players I'm looking at here, but I am really hoping to get Pickett and Darman. Pickett should be really good depth at OLB, but taking him first would be a risk because I REALLY NEED more DL. The Speed and agility ratings for Pickett are elite though...

With pick 4.6, the Bills select:

Hy6l539m.jpg

I knew it. Worth it now even if I miss on Darman. Dude is an athlete. I will have to consider starting him this year since Lester Murphy has been a bit of a disappointment for me.

With pick 4.15, the Bills select

No write up necessary before this one because Darman made it, and Hunter Willy was drafted. This pick is also very disappointing. Darman will be my backup NT. I got some good players this year, but man, I didn't help my DL at all.

Malone goes two picks before me to the Redskins. This is what's left of my board

CB GLENN DYKES 22 5'11 212 6L 6L ZCV C - - - - WAKE FOREST 4.32 40.5 9'11 6.73 4.04 17
SS BLAKE PASCHAL 22 5'10 198 6L 5L POW B PUR C+ TAK C+ CINCINNATI 4.56 37 10'3 6.94 4.22 27

With pick 5.15, the Bills select:

Meh.

Nothing left on my board. Not even going to post the last pick because he won't make the roster. Just took a HWS corner who is awful

This was definitely the worst draft of the three so far. I didn't address my biggest position of need, and will probably give up a million rushing yards again this year.

Draft Updates

  • Jeanpierre is a 76 ovr 3-4 LE with a swim and bull rush. Not awful
  • Chicago selects ROLB Odom 1st overall - Odom is 83 overall normal dev. 84 speed, 65 fmv 65 pmv 87 blk shed. STUD
  • Indy takes McNutt 3rd (best name ever) - McNutt is an 81 quick dev. 84 speed, great pick and great name
  • Baltimore selects Dingle 6th - Dingle is 80 ovr normal dev, 89 strength. really good player and wish I had a shot at him. ALSO HB Briscoe is 81 slow dev, dodged a bullet there
  • WR Jesus Taylor is taken 7th by the Lions - Jesus is a 77 overall superstar. I'm still happy with my guys, but threes the first star
  • Margarito Lee is taken 13th by the Redskins - Margarito Lee is a 77 ovr star too. damnit.
  • WR Shazier gets selected one pick later by the Cardinals - 81 ovr normal dev. only 88 speed, but has 87 routes, 88 catch, 88 catch in traffic, 91 spec catch, 95 jump wowie
  • Mike Jones is picked 18 by the Titans - I was scared to check this one. 77 quick dev with 88 speed. Not sure how I feel about it. A year younger than my guy and has quick dev.
  • Cleveland takes WR Kaddu 20th - 81 ovr normal dev. similar stats to Shazier but 90 speed. great pick
  • The first QB Everrett Way is picked 25th by the Giants - 79 ovr normal. 92 THP, 88 and 84 short and mid accuracy.
  • Vinnett gets picked next by the Texans - 80 slow dev, nice
  • Andy Dalton has a career year, and the Bengals reward him by selecting QB Kain Moore 27th - Moore is 79 normal dev with 87 speed
  • The Saints, who lost Brees for the 2nd time in 3 years, take QB Cain 28th - 76 normal. not good at anything.
  • Cosby goes 29th to the Steelers, damn - okay, this one hurts. 79 quick, 94 strength, 86 block shed. I needed him. I should have taken him over the safety
  • The Rival Jets take QB Annen with the 2nd pick in the 2nd - and finally, the Jets get a 78 superstar QB. 92 throw power, 87 throw on the run, 86, 84,  78 accuracies. ****balls. Guess the Jets are my for real rivals now
