My Broncos mock: v2.0

Reminder: This is what I think WILL happen, not what I would personally do

Cleveland takes Darnold, the Giants stay put and take Chubb, Jets take Mayfield, then the Bills sell the farm to the Browns for 4 to get Josh Allen. This leaves us to choose between Rosen, Barkley, Nelson or trade down. Arizona bites, and decide to come up to get Rosen to give a seamless transition into the post Palmer era. Elway agrees and trades 5 to them in return for 15, 79 (third rounder) and a 2019 first round pick. The rationale behind it is that we could expect Rosen to have some growing pains, so we could be getting a top 10 pick, and if Keenum also struggles then we have the ammo we need to trade up for a rookie QB next year.

Denver receive 15, 79 and 2019 first. Arizona receive 5.

15. Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama

Thomas and Sanders could be in their last year in Denver, so Elway nabs his future #1.

40. Sam Hubbard, OLB, Ohio State

Elway makes it 7/8 drafts with a front-7 defender in the first two rounds. Barrett and Ray both in contract years and you can never have too many pass rushers.

71. Martinas Rankin, OT, Mississippi State

Developmental OT who has been in for a visit. He'll sit behind Veldheer with a view to being the long term solution at Right Tackle, maybe even Left Tackle if Bolles struggles.

79. Christian Campbell, CB, Penn State

Broncos players are lobbying to bring back Kayvon Webster, but this guy is kind of a similar younger player. Will compete with 2017 third rounder Brendan Langley and FA Tramaine Brock for playing time.

99. Luke Falk, QB, Washington State

With three third round picks Elway can afford to burn one of them on a project QB. Falk will compete with Paxton Lynch to be the backup in 2018.

106. Oren Burks, ILB, Vanderbilt

With the reports that the Broncos like Su'a Cravens at Safety, I think LB is in play in this draft. I think Roquan Smith and Tremaine Edmunds are in play in round 1, but if we don't take one of those guys then Burks could be good value in the 4th round. We need someone who is better in coverage than Todd Davis.

113. Chris Herndon, TE, Miami

No proven talent at Tight End on this team, so Elway brings in another young guy to compete.

149. Kyle Hicks, RB, TCU

Goodbye CJ Anderson.

160. Quadree Henderson, WR, Pitt

Our annual late round return specialist

It's entirely possible. There's been quite a bit of chatter that Denver views getting younger/talented at the position is a major need,

That's definitely true. Just don't like taking a WR super early.

We have 3 thirds?

We have two: Our natural selection, and a compensatory pick we got for Russell Okung, however in our trade with Arizona I gave us a 3rd round pick as well as next year's first.
