What’s the cap space look like in the offseason? We need to go out and sign a WR instead of spending more draft picks on them imo. Tired of waiting for that position to develop.

Plenty as of now, but we have some big ticket players  or reasonably significant decisions coming up to be signed or extended.
This season:
Derrick Morgan
Brian Orakpo
Quinton Spain

2020 Free Agents:
Kevin Byard
Jack Conklin (Team option)
Ben Jones
Brett Kern
Marcus Mariota
Logan Ryan
Wesley Woodyard
Tajae Sharpe

So that cap space could be eaten up real quick.  Would be hard to see them spend top free agent money on a WR, especially after seeing what the FA WRs got this year. It would have to be a vet that gets cut or trade for a contract that can be easily re-worked.

Unless willing to come back for cheap, one of Morgan/Orakpo will likely be gone and Landry will take their spot. Not sure on Spain. The o-line's pass blocking is great so maybe they keep it together, but at this point the run blocking just isn't cutting it.

The salary cap really doesn't matter(See: Rams), and practically no team has issues with it anymore, but this next season will be the last year of a cheap Mariota, so could see a splurge to try and go for a ring.

There’s always ways to create salary cap simply by converting salary into bonus or upfront money you see teams all the time restructure contracts Steelers, Cowboys, redskins it create a messy situation on the backend down the line if you never release players by drafting their replacements in time.

Unless you consider 21M cheap... This was Mariota's last cheap year. That's projected to be about 11% of the cap... And puts us at 167M in liabilities next year.  The cap is projected to be a little under 190M... So that gives us 20M plus 24M we'll be carrying over from this year...so about 44 M before any new contracts and cuts.

There's not many reasonable cuts that can be made to save good chunks of money... Cyp for about 5M is the only one that stands out... Jones close to 5M (unlikely)... 3.5 from Kline (very unlikely) are other options. Ryan could save a good chunk too, but that's not happening... I actually see an extension with him. Extending Mariota would likely save 2019 cap money.

We can sign Rak or Morgan... Neither will break the bank at this point... But Morgan would be much more team friendly imo.

There's plenty of money to sign a WR... But other than Golden Tate and maybe Gordon, theres not much to throw big money at. The value will be in those lower tiers, guys like Kearse, Hogan, etc... But we can't be afraid to pay decent money for those type of players. We're seeing how important and valuable God WRs are (if only because of the serious lack we have there)

At this point, I'd take a prophet or disciple level WR.

Considering the market is being set near or at 30 going forward, I'd say 21 mil is pretty cheap. It's around middle of the road for QB contracts right now I believe.

Considering he'll be getting about the same next year (21M) as he got in the first 4 years in the league (24M)...

Also considering the jump he's taking from this year to next, more than quadrupling actual money from 4M to 21M... And tripling salary cap money from 7M to 21M...

This is his last cheap year.
