I'd like to follow up on what @RuskieTitan suggested and make another suggestion and that is that we appoint someone for free agency that is responsible for making sure that every bid he is valid and that people are not going over their cap when they bid on players. Yes I understand how much work this would be and how much of a pain in the butt it would be but if it's this person's job to also signify when someone is hypothetically supposed to be docked a draft pick I mean things are going to get consistent pretty darn quick.

In case you are wondering yes I am absolutely volunteering to do that job

These guys already do that. It should be a penalty. It’s people just being lazy and making someone else do the math.

That would also make my offer on Jurrell Casey invalid since I bidded Lukic up on that. Widespread implications.

Actually your offer would still be valid so really only those two would be effected

Yes I know they do that but I also feel like and no offense to Ted or SirA,

They've got a lot on their plate and they've got to do a lot during free agency so throwing a guy and take something that significant off of their plate whose job it was to do nothing else but that might not be a bad way to go

I would save $500 in cap space if I offered him his original $7,600. I’m peaty enough to want that money back.

When you aren’t running up 5 year offers to guys, and instead offer short term deals mistakes happen.

Nope I do my math

I haven’t seen countless mistakes. For example the first Goldman offer was $9 short. That’s why I explained to Rags earlier bc it can be complicated, particularly when lowering the years on a deal.

I agree with your point on accountability, nonetheless.

I do agree with the point that you are making that mistakes can happen and when you're talkin about $9 I'm not in favor of pulling somebody's draft pick over $9. However when you are talking about a significant amount and people are simply not making sure that they have the right amount listed it's a laziness and it deserves punishment. However even those $9 mistakes I feel like should be able to be avoided

My position : it's a lot of work for little. I can get behind the penalizing of an owner for an invalid bid (but not the loss of a pick. More a small cap fine.

But having someone track every bid to check that is a lot for little damage done.

Mannnnn you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Yes, the owners should keep track of their bids and their money. There is already a rule in place (that was enforced) that makes anything over the cap invalid unless they rectify it. We don't need someone to track every person's bid but feel free to call out (as was done with KJ) if an owner has crossed their cap number.

Docking picks because you go over is a pretty severe penalty for something that at the end of the day could have been a simple mistake.
