I'm not.  You can practice family law every day without being certified as a Family Law Specialist.

Obviously. She nets $450k doing it right now. But thats not the point is it? Its an investment into her becoming a judge (her end goal).

Again, I'm not here to trash your girlfriend, but maybe not throw stones in your glass house when you're rank zero on a subject.

Not many lawyers will opt to invest in that because it's not worth it to them.  The fact that your girlfriend thinks it is means that it is worth it to her, even if 95% of all lawyers will never seek a similar certification.

You don't have to be a specialist to be a judge.

I dont know. I know it doesnt hurt. And I know she wants to be supreme court.

Don't y'all elect judges in Texas?

Read above.

My only point is,  a test that has a less than 20% pass rate and is respected cant hurt. I did the same thing in my industry. Ive passed multiple test that I cant even legally hold out as I own for the sole reason of saying I know a subject intensely.

We're not disagreeing, but, it's hardly what you initially described.

Plus, you are typically considered specialist in a field after 15 years of practice in it.  So, I guess this could be relevant for evidence purposes?  I guess

She thinks 20 years of board certification leads to being a judge. I dunno anything about that though
