thebestever6
Counselor baited me into making this thread so I'll bite on making this thread . College prospects is so micro in the grand scheme of building a team it's for the Birds!!!. Macro or GM minds are what this threads for! Last GDT I made the bold statement of saying QB and RB are similarly valued chess pieces in this offense QB(King)Lock RD2 Franchise RB (Queen)RD 2-3 minimum. The goal building a Top 10 Time of possesion offense.Lineman are most important they do all the dirty work. Move TE is the most valuable utility piece think chess. Possession number 1 WR is a must. With ALL that logic a top 5 to 6 back is the move rounds two or 3. Edited November 6, 2019 by thebestever6
thebestever6
WR 2 along with Lindsay is also just a valuable utility Chess piece if the offense is Ferrari type level. A guy like Juwan Winfree is going to be your (Faux number 2) in base personnel. And a guy like Royal(rd2) Ty Hilton(Rd3, Emmanuel Sanders(rd3), DeSean Jackson(rd2), AB(Rd 5) will be the Utility piece when you wanna go small or get a particular matchup. Can't rule out a guy like Shenault if the price is right because he gives you the best of both worlds. I'm just looking forward to him to be a homerun pick his rookie deal ala Eddie Royal hopefully year one is the norm for Shenault if he got to round 2. We have two choices in free agency upgrade The speed at wr, or upgrade Winfree doubt this is the move. In the draft the choice will be ( upgrade winfree) or develop a speedy game breaking wr bingo, or if there is a big target that is also fast and has a large catch radius has to be considered. thebestever6
Fun Fact- Dating back to 1977 the Broncos highest drafted center has been round 3. This guy from Wisconsin would have to be a HOF talent to break that 42 year trend. Tackle/ Tackle Guard/ Guard center combo is the more likely scenario to going oline pre round 3. Centers are viewed as running backs in this system more so than rbs. Edited November 6, 2019 by thebestever6

Scoundrel
If we are picking around 9 where we do now who do you see as a trade down partner so we can accumulate more picks to build this offense up? I was looking and I think maybe the Titans if they really want a QB like Herbert?

This pushes the linebacker need down the board UNLESS Moses falls into the 20s all bets are off. 3) Making the offense top 10 in time of Possesion, getting a workhorse runner to take advantage of the Shiny new offensive line. All other needs are secondary barring injury most likely. - This team is going to be a perennial playoff contender bc it's the same formula the Ravens used 06' onward. And they've been playoff contenders ever since.
Scoundrel
I think if we don’t pick in the Andrew Thomas, Tristan Wirfs range we should definitely try and trade down.

Lots of top 10 dynamic to be decided - so much hype over a lot of QBs right now that a hypothetical number 9 pick could have great value as 1) trading back to a team wishing to acquire a QB or 2) having a top MLB/OT fall to us at 9 because of said demand for QBs.

Do you see a top MLB worthy of the pick? Perhaps if you see Simmons as that
thebestever6
How's that 3 tech d lineman from Iowa??? Hes a prime candidate. Or a nose tackle.? Had we completed that trade with Buffalo 2018 have a strong feeling Vita Vea, and Hernandez would of been the get.

If Simmons is the guy and edge talent doesn't fall to round 2. We could send Von Miller away for two seconds one at the top of round 2. And go BPA at line/ linebacker/rb or a Shenault type player. Also wouldn't rule out in line te at that point. If you can turn Von Miller into a round 1 graded prospect who is likely accountable for 4 years of Production plus a future 2. With Elways ability to find pass rush gems ( Barrett and Reed crossing fingers. ) I'd be on that like white on rice. thebestever6
Hot Take Today - The league caught onto our system of evaluating rbs(1995). Rbs aren't devalued in the draft unless (mileage/injury risks occur. Rbs are only truly devalued second contracts because backs wanna be paid by what they've done, but they're paid mostly by the Mileage on their tires. Day 3 this year will have a primary focus on special team contributions.
jolly red giant
The Broncos currently have 12 picks in the draft - I could see a trade down in the first round and a lot of shuffling around after that - by all accounts there is a lot of depth in this draft - 8-9 picks in the first four rounds could really shore up the depth problems on the roster.

What round do you see them getting a safety for Kareem to mentor?? He'd be the tone setter like the enforcer of our defense Along with DE and NT it's our biggest need imo. Inside linebacker is a luxury at this moment at the back half of round 1 especially with AJ Johnsons play.
BroncoBruin
The Broncos are going to have to make a serious investment in the DL one way or another. Dre'Mont Jones will be the only current defensive lineman under contract in 2021, and Walker's the only other one under contract in 2020. Doesn't seem to be a very deep class for interior DL unfortunately. We'll be in Derrick Brown range but after that...feels like you're kind of hoping for one of Marvin Wilson, Javon Kinlaw or Raekwon Davis to slip in to the 2nd.
