Low spin rate/hittable fastball is the main thing that seems to be causing his slide. There's also some health stuff, but I haven't seen any confirmation on that.

Either way, it seems like the Blue Jays may be his highest landing spot at this point. I've been hoping he'd drop to the Mariners, so I'm hoping you guys pass on him. :D

I'm hoping for Lacy, Hancock or Meyer. We could use another college arm

I'm still torn on who I want the Tigers to take.  Is Martins defense at a premium position good enough to make up for Torkelson's bat?  I am guessing Martin is the way to go but if he moves to OF, its not quite as much value IMO.  Also would Torks bat get lost somewhat at CoPa if they don't move the fences in a little?  I love the power profile but know we need more than that.

That bat is legit.  I had doubts about him after last season, considering he played in the most hitter friendly environment in college baseball.  But then he went to the Cape and obliterated it, while swinging a wood bat.

I was assuming either J.T. Ginn or Dax Fulton were the locks to get drafted by the Nats.  Wilcox could go about anywhere from 10 on.

This.  I've also seen where some scouts have concerns that all his stuff drops, which the league has trended away from to deal with launch angle increases.

I think those guys will be available in the second round

Do you believe the Tigers have good player development?

Not especially.  The best position player they have developed in a long while was Nick Castellanos.  To be fair they haven't had high potential bats in the system for a while, but cant say I really trust them at this point to develop someone.  I hope I am wrong because Riley Greene looks solid and hope they dont screw him up.

I'd cut a deal at 1.1 to sign overslot guys everywhere else.

With no spring season and limited in person looks from people, I don't know how teams are going to arrive at the guy they are confident in as the best prospect. Even if you pick one, is he what 2% more of a sure thing than the next guy? Also, I'd imagine signability guys are more likely to fall further in this draft so that gives you a chance to hit it bigger than you might have otherwise.

Maybe Manfred looked at the NBA and thought the thing the MLB was missing was frozen envelope conspiracy theory?

ARIZONA
18.Arizona-Jared Kelly||RHP||Refugio, TX
33.Arizona-Slade Cecconi||RHP||Miami
90.Arizona-Trevor Hauver||LF||Arizona State
119.Arizona-Nick Garcia||RHP||Chapman
149.Arizona-Carter Baumler||RHP||Dowling Catholic, IA

Arizona went HS with their three first rounders last year and a lot of college after. At 18, they are primed to get the best HS pitcher in the draft imo because high schoolers are going to drop this draft. Secconi is being touted as a poential top 20-25 pick, so that would be good value for them, and Hauver is more of a money saving pick. Savings from Hauver and Garica should allow them to get a talented guy like Baumler in the 5th.

ATLANTA
25.Atlanta-Nick Swiney||LHP||North Carolina State
97.Atlanta-Michael Rothenberg||C||Duke
126.Atlanta-Colt Keith||3B/RHP||Biloxi, MS
156.Atlanta-Ryan Bruno||LHP||American Heritage, FL

It sounds like the Braves are going to be using the same strategy this year as last, and thats going to be easy sign college players early. Atlanta also has one of the smallest money pools to work with. Swiney popped up as a starter this year for NC State and dominated. He has a short track record and many think he could be a reliever. Rothenberg started off red hot this year for Duke, will benefit for automatic strike zone.

BALTIMORE
2.Baltimore-Nick Gonzalez||2B||New Mexico State
30.Baltimore-Dax Fulton||LHP||Mustang, OK
39.Baltimore-Jared Shuster||LHP||Wake Forest
74.Baltimore-Chase Davis||RF||Franklin, CA
103.Baltimore-Isaiah Greene||CF||Corona, CA
133.Baltimore-Landon Knack||RHP||East Tennessee State

Can Baltimore really take Gonzalez over Martin? It sounds possible. Their new front office comes from Houston, where they were known to cut under slot deals. It seems like a no brainer this year if they have Gonzalez rated close to Martin because there will be some high school talent drop because of money and lack of eye balls. I have them taking Dax Fulton with the savings. This is a kid that had the potential to be the first arm off the board before TJ surgery. Shuster popped up this year for Wake Forest and is gaining helium. Davis at 74 would be a nice surprise as well, and they could probably afford with some savings with Shuster.

BOSTON
17.Boston-Ed Howard||SS||Mount Carmel, IL
89.Boston-Cam Brown||RHP||Flower Mound, TX
118.Boston-Zavier Warren||2B/3B||Central Michigan
148.Boston-Grant Richardson||CF||Indiana

You see Boston picks at 17 and not again until 89. They are going to take the top talent. With a full spring, Howard could have vaulted into the top 10, but he didnt even get to play one game this year. Some teams could be scared off, and he could drop to the comp round, but Boston needs talent. Brown is one of the many Texas arms that can throw very hard. Wide variance as to where he could go.

CHICAGO CUBS
16.CHI Cubs-Cade Cavalli||RHP||Oklahoma
51.CHI Cubs-Alejandro Rosario||RHP||Miami Christian, FL
88.CHI Cubs-David Calabrese||CF||St Elizabeth Catholic, CN
117.CHI Cubs-AJ Vukovich||3B||East Troy, WI
147.CHI Cubs-Tyler Brown||RHP||Vanderbilt

Ive read a couple reports saying there are a few teams that could take college arms in the draft and maybe trying to push them to the majors in this crazy year with no minor league games. The Cubs were one of these teams mentioned, and Cavalli is a guy that could probably miss bats out of the pen in 2020. I previously had him mocked here. I really think he fits the Cubs needs for now and the future. Rosario is a reclassification for the 2020 draft. Not a huge kid, but is athletic and has the potential to start.

CHICAGO WHITE SOX
11.CHI White Sox-Heston Kjerstad||RF/1B||Arkansas
47.CHI White Sox-Alex Santos||RHP||Mount St Michael, NY
83.CHI White Sox-Jack Leftwich||RHP||Florida
112.CHI White Sox-Nick Frasso||RHP||Loyola Marymount
142.CHI White Sox-Jimmy Glowenke||2B||Dallas Baptist

The White Sox promoted from within, so I wouldnt expect much change from their previous drafts. This might be Kjerstad's floor. He's not a great fit for the Sox because he has no defensive value, and their organization is littered with guys like this, but you dont draft for need, and Kjerstad can rake. Ive got a projectable cold weather pitcher and a college kid who has better stuff than numbers.

CINCINNATI
12.Cincinnati-Austin Hendrick||RF||West Allegheny, PA
48.Cincinnati-Cameron Mlodzinski||RHP||South Carolina
65.Cincinnati-Yohandy Morales||3B||Braddock, FL
84.Cincinnati-Jack Neely||RHP||Iowa Western JC
113.Cincinnati-Mason Erla||RHP||Michigan State
143.Cincinnati-Nate Clow||CF||Beamer, WA

Hendrick could be number one on the Reds board, and there is a solid chance he could be available at 12. Some scouts have compared his profile now to Cody Bellinger. He has loud tools. Mlodzinski was about as perfect as he could be in the 2019 Cape. That sky rocketed him up boards, but he has not produced in the SEC at all. Morales is a big kid with big power that could be moved to first soon. Neely is a very talented kid with a question mark past. You can save money and take him early and hope he puts it together.

CLEVELAND
23.Cleveland-Mick Abel||RHP||Jesuit, OR
36.Cleveland-Carson Montgomery||RHP||West Orange, FL
56.Cleveland-Jared Jones||RHP||La Mirada, CA
95.Cleveland-Jason Hodges||LF||John Logan JC
124.Cleveland-Alex Boychuk||C||Mill Creek, GA
154.Cleveland-Jack Hartman||RHP||Appalachian State

Cleveland has gone high school often and early the past few years, and have taken a number of big named high school arms. All three high school pitchers should be taken earlier than I have them, so its more of luck that I have them taking three straight high school arms. Abel has top 10 talent. Montgomery is being mocked in the first in some drafts, and Jones is a little maxed out, but has very good stuff and would be a first rounder if he had a little more projection. Hodges enrolled at Arkansas in 2019 but went the JUCO route for the spring semester. He went in the 34th round last year. Cleveland could save some money by picking him here.

COLORADO
9.Colorado-Patrick Bailey||C||North Carolina State
35.Colorado-Nick Loftin||SS||Baylor
46.Colorado-Bobby Miller||RHP||Louisville
81.Colorado-Kyle Teel||C||Mahwah, NJ
110.Colorado-Owen Caissie||CF||Notre Dame, ON
140.Colorado-Carson Seymour||RHP||Kansas State

I think this is the ultimate worst case scenario for Colorado. It sounds like their top three might been Veen, Hassell, and Detmers in some order(assuming none of the big names drop). Bailey should be at least average behind the plate, and has real game power, so its not surprising he would go in the top 10 with his pedigree. Loftin is a glove first SS who could be an average regular if he hits a little. Miller is another guy that had a great start to 2020 and could have been a 1st rounder with a full season.

DETROIT
1.Detroit-Spencer Torkelson||1B||Arizona State
38.Detroit-JT Ginn||RHP||Mississippi State
62.Detroit-Kevin Parada||C||Loyola, CA
73.Detroit-Zarion Sharpe||LHP||UNC Wilmington
102.Detroit-Jeff Criswell||RHP||Michigan
132.Detroit-Mario Zabala||CF||International Baseball Academy, PR

I have given in. I dont agree with it, but baring something crazy, Torkelson will be the first player taken next week. He's a Boras client, so he will cost. I have them grabbing potential top 10 pick in JT Ginn at 38. His injury pushes him down, and he will break the bank because he is just a sophomore. Parada and redshirt junior Zarion Sharpe are taken to save money for the first two picks. Sharpe is a interesting power lefty who is probably a reliever at the next level.

HOUSTON
72.Houston-Jordan Nwogu||RF||Michigan
101.Houston-Blake Dunn||CF||Western Michigan
131.Houston-Zach McCambley||RHP||Coastal Carolina
161.Houston-Brandon Birdsell||RHP||San Jacinto JC

In 125 games at Michigan, Nwogu had 20 HR, 30 SB and had a .976 OPS. He is a big, athletic kid that will probably end up at a corner spot. If he can play defense enough in right, and he keeps the swing and miss down, this could be a steal. Dunn is another big, athletic college centerfielder. I think he has a little more ability there and could stick. Dunn dominated the MAC but struggled in the Cape.

KANSAS CITY
4.Kansas City-Zac Veen||RF||Spruce Creek, FL
32.Kansas City-Bryce Jarvis||RHP||Duke
41.Kansas City-Drew Romo||C||The Woodlands, TX
76.Kansas City-Ian Bedell||RHP||Missouri
105.Kansas City-Casey Schmidt||3B/RHP||San Diego State
135.Kansas City-Devin Fontenot||RHP||LSU

Veen or Lacy? Kansas City probably didnt think Lacy would be available at 4. I think they will pass on him for Veen, who is someone they have been looking into heavily and is probably the favorite to be their pick if the top three go in order. Jarvis could rise through the minors very quickly, and looks to be a mid rotation piece. High school catchers are always a question mark. Romo's defense is way ahead of his offense right now, and a electronic strike zone could hamper some value, but he is very intriguing.

LOS ANGELES ANGELS
10.LA Angels-Max Meyer||RHP||Minnesota
82.LA Angels-Sam Weatherly||LHP||Clemson
111.LA Angels-Milan Tolentino||SS||Santa Margarita Catholic, CA
141.LA Angels-Kevin Abel||RHP||Oregon State

The Angels have fired scouts. They traded last years first rounder in a salary dump. It doesnt seem like Artie Moreno gives two ****s about his minor league organization. I have them taking two college pitchers that could both be in major league pens very soon. maybe in 20202. Meyer is small and could be a pen arm, but he was great as a starter in 2020, and many think thats his future. Weatherly is a softer tossing lefty that struck out a ton at Clemson(mostly from the pen), but he also walked a ton. Will be a cheap sign.

LOS ANGELES DODGERS
29.LA Dodgers-Pete Crow-Armstrong||CF||Harvard Westlake, CA
60.LA Dodgers-Jeremy Wu-Yelland||LHP||Hawaii
66.LA Dodgers-Tyler Keenan||3B||Ole Miss
100.LA Dodgers-Kenyon Yovan||1B/RHP||Oregon
130.LA Dodgers-Ricky Tiedemann||LHP||Lakewood, CA
160.LA Dodgers-Tyler Gentry||RF||Alabama

Pete Crow-Armstrong is my #4 player in this draft. He has been well known for years in the scouting community. He had one bad summer in 2019, but was better at the end, and looked good in his short time this year. He is asking for a lot of money or he will go to Vanderbilt, but some teams are knocking him for the bad summer. He is going to slide and a team like the Dodgers will not think twice about drafting him if they can sign him. Wu-Yelland is a lefty reliever. Tyler Keenan had a huge start to 2020 and has real power. Might move to 1st. Yovan was a pitcher to start his career at Oregon, but moved to DH after injury. Raked in 2020. Could be a pitching option if a team thinks its worth the risk because he has hit 97 on the gun. All three picks are to save money for PCA.

MIAMI
3.Miami-Austin Martin||CF/SS||Vanderbilt
40.Miami-Freddy Zamora||SS||Miami
61.Miami-Tommy Mace||RHP||Florida
75.Miami-Slade Wilks||RF||Columbia Academy, MS
104.Miami-Jake Eder||LHP||Vanderbilt
134.Miami-Luke Little||LHP||San Jacinto JC

The Marlins Director of Scouting coached at Vanderbilt. Their 2019 1st rounder was from Vanderbilt. If Austin Martin slides to 3, he will be a Marlin. Freddy Zamora was a potential 1st rounder before the season but a torn ACL and a suspension has pushed him down. A run on college shortstops looks like a thing at the end of the first through the beginning of the second, and he would be a good gamble for the organization. Mace was inconsistent in his first two years at Florida, but was dominant at the beginning of 2020. Wilks is a physically maxed out corner outfielder who is old for his grade. The power could be 70, but this is a money saver.

MILWAUKEE
20.Milwaukee-Clayton Beeter||RHP||Texas Tech
53.Milwaukee-Burl Carraway||LHP||Dallas Baptist
92.Milwaukee-Robby Ashford||CF||Hoover, AL
121.Milwaukee-Andre Tarver||LF||Chipola JC
151.Milwaukee-Daniel Susac||C||Jesuit, CA

As a freshman in 2018, Beeter had shoulder surgery and missed the year. As a redshirt freshman in 2019, he was the teams closer. He struck out 40 in 20 innings, but he also walked 20. He became a starter in 2020, and he was great. 33 Ks, 4 BB in 21 innings. He was sitting in the mid 90s and touching 98. A couple of big named scouts say his curve could be the best in the class. Thats two potential plus pitches. The lack of innings and injury history are big question marks, but someone is going to jump on him in the mid first round. I would like to point out that his only big game of 2020 was against Tennessee and he only went 4 innings, gave up 4 earned, 3 walks, 5 hits, and 8 Ks. He gave up one run against lower teams like Houston Baptist, Florida Atlantic, and Rice. Burl Calloway is a closer, with closer stuff. In a normal year, I would put money on him being the first to the majors. Money saved will go towards signing the uber athletic Robby Ashford, who is a 4* QB signed to play at Oregon.

MINNESOTA
27.Minnesota-Austin Wells||C/1B||Arizona
59.Minnesota-Tanner Burns||RHP||Auburn
128.Minnesota-Ian Seymour||LHP||Virginia Tech
158.Minnesota-Magdiel Cotto||LHP||Nation Ford, SC

Minnesota likes players that make contact. Hard contact. Austin Wells is a sophomore eligible catcher that struck out 15% of the time and walked 16% of the time in 2019. He had a good Cape in 2019, and started to shoot up boards. He started off 2020 just as well as he left 2019. He should have plus power to go along with his eye. Defensively, he is nothing special, but would greatly benefit from robot umpires. Tanner Burns has 1st rd talent, but his small stature and injury history see him slide. He can hit 97 in short stints, so the pen is a possible option.

NEW YORK YANKEES
28.NY Yankees-Jordan Westburg||SS||Mississippi State
99.NY Yankees-Jace Bohrofen||RF||Westmoore, OK
129.NY Yankees-Gavin Williams||RHP||East Carolina
159.NY Yankees-Gino Groover||2B||Walker, GA

The rumors are that the Yankees have been looking at college hitters and shortstops. Jordan Westburg is probably the best true SS in the draft. He wont win any Gold Gloves, but his defense is solid and wont take away from his game. He has gap power right now that could possibly turn into over the wall power with a little tinkering. Bohrofen is going to need to be persuaded to forgo his commitment to Oklahoma, but he profiles as a prototypical right fielder with power, so he would be a good choice at the end of the third.

NEW YORK METS
19.NY Mets-Justin Foscue||2B||Mississippi State
52.NY Mets-Blaze Jordan||1B/LF||DeSoto Central, MS
69.NY Mets-Cole Henry||RHP||LSU
91.NY Mets-Joe Boyle||RHP||Notre Dame
120.NY Mets-Ryan Hagenow||RHP||Farragut, TN
150.NY Mets-Jacob Teter||1B||Florida Southern

Im higher on Foscue than most, but he is creeping up boards. The Mets are rumored to be looking at all types of college players. Im more confident in Blaze Jordan now that he looked a lot more athletic across the diamond this spring. Henry and Boyle are possible high leverage relievers. Teter is a senior sign.

OAKLAND
26.Oakland-Aaron Sabato||1B||North Carolina
58.Oakland-Drew Bowser||3B||Harvard Westlake, CA
98.Oakland-Johnny Cuevas||RHP||Southern Nevada JC
127.Oakland-Kyle Harrison||LHP||De La Salle, CA
157.Oakland-Cam Shepherd||SS||Georgia

Oakland is going to save money somehow. I cant in good conscious give them Nick Loftin like reports are saying. Sabato crushed all pitching this spring. Bowser and Harrison could cost overslot. Shepherd is a senior sighn and Cuevas is a JUCO.

PHILADELPHIA
15.Philadelphia-Nick Bitsko||RHP||Central Bucks East, PA
87.Philadelphia-Gage Workman||3B||Arizona State
116.Philadelphia-Andrew Abbott||LHP||Virginia
146.Philadelphia-Max Troiani||CF||Bentley

PHilly seems all over the place, but they have probably seen Bitsko more than any other team since he is a local, so they would probably be comfortable taking him here. The three other picks could save money if Bitsko goes over.

PITTSBURGH
7.Pittsburgh-Reid Detmers||LHP||Louisville
31.Pittsburgh-Jordan Walker||3B||Decatur, GA
44.Pittsburgh-Daniel Cabrera||LF||LSU
79.Pittsburgh-Liam Norris||LHP||Green Hope, NC
108.Pittsburgh-Hayden Cantrelle||2B/SS||Louisiana Lafayette
138.Pittsburgh-Caden Grice||RF/LHP||Riverside, SC

It sounds like Pittsburgh is looking at the college route. I think a Detmers is the pick over a hitter like Kjerstad. Just a hunch. Walker and Grice overslot. Norris is a over draft to save money, but he does have a little MacKenzie Gore in him. Cantrelle is a tweener like much of their past drafts. He is here to save money.

SAN DIEGO
8.San Diego-Robert Hassell||RF||Independence, TN
34.San Diego-Carson Tucker||SS||Mountain Pointe, AZ
45.San Diego-Masyn Winn||RHP/SS||Kingwood, TX
80.San Diego-Alika Williams||SS||Arizona State
109.San Diego-Seth Lonsway||LHP||Ohio State
139.San Diego-Jake Vogel||OF||Huntington Beach, CA

San Diego follows their models and goes BPA. Hassell has been the rumor lately and it fits San Diego to a T. It also helps that he is one of the most talented players in the draft. Adding Tucker and Winn to Hassell is going to cost money, but I think they can save enough with the picks of Williams and Lonsway to make it work.

SAN FRANCISCO
13.San Francisco-Tyler Soderstrom||C/OF||Turlock, CA
49.San Francisco-Hudson Haskin||CF||Tulane
67.San Francisco-Kyle Nicolas||RHP||Ball State
68.San Francisco-Petey Halpin||CF||St Francis, CA
85.San Francisco-Tanner Witt||RHP||Episcopal, TX
114.San Francisco-Kale Emshoff||C||Arkansas Little Rock
144.San Francisco-TJ Collett||1B||Kentucky

If Soderstrom goes this high, he isnt a catcher. High school catchers have the highest bust percentage. Soderstom's bat plays in a corner outfield spot, and he is very athletic. Witt is the gem with the rest of the picks. Could be a tough sign, but would give a big boost to their organizational depth at pitcher. I like TJ Collett as a power hitting senior.

SEATTLE
6.Seattle-Emerson Hancock||RHP||Georgia
43.Seattle-Casey Martin||SS||Arkansas
64.Seattle-Cayden Wallace||3B||Greenbrier, AR
78.Seattle-Logan Allen||LHP||Florida International
107.Seattle-Casey Opitz||C||Arkansas
137.Seattle-Beck Way||RHP||Northwest Florida State JC

Hancock's medicals have been released. We have no clue what they say. If teams like what they see, he could still go as high as third, but Seattle is the safe bet here. Casey Martin is my most hated player in this draft. Someone will take him early. Allen and Way are two very good relief prospects, and Wallace is worth over slot at 64.

ST LOUIS
21.St Louis-Cole Wilcox||RHP||Georgia
54.St Louis-Anthony Servideo||SS||Ole Miss
63.St Louis-Christian Roa||RHP||Texas A&M
70.St Louis-TJ McCants||SS||Pensacola Catholic, FL
93.St Louis-Dalton Fowler||LHP||Northwest Mississippi JC
122.St Louis-Corey Collins||C||North Gwinnett, GA
152.St Louis-Jackson Leath||RHP||Tennessee

My favorite draft goes to St Louis. I do not think its realistic. Wilcox is getting slot with Boras. A full 2020 would have had him back in the top 10. Servideo can probably be a little underslot. He has come out of nowhere in 2020, but Roa, McCants, and Collins will cost a lot. I see Collins going to Georgia in the fall. Probably a good chance he goes undrafted as a high school catcher, but if the money is there, he has top 50 talent.

TAMPA BAY
24.Tampa Bay-Dillon Dingler||C/OF||Ohio State
37.Tampa Bay-Justin Lange||RHP||Llano, TX
57.Tampa Bay-Zach DeLoach||CF||Texas A&M
96.Tampa Bay-Alec Burleson||RF/LHP||East Carolina
125.Tampa Bay-Trei Cruz||2B||Rice
155.Tampa Bay-Victor Mederos||RHP||Westminster Christian, FL

Dingler is an athletic freak that played center as a freshman. He was made for the Tampa organization. Lange popped up early in 2020 after hitting triple digits in games. He could go as high as 25 to Atlanta. Cruz should be used at 2nd, 3rd, short, and left field. I dont see them signing Mederos here.

TEXAS
14.Texas-Garrett Crochet||LHP||Tennessee
50.Texas-Harold Coll||SS||Georgia Perimeter Academy
86.Texas-Alex Toral||1B||Miami
115.Texas-Markevian Hence||RHP||Watson Chapel, AR
145.Texas-Braiden Ward||CF||Washington

It seems like Texas wants college impact players. Someone that will help the majors maybe as early as this year. Crochet only got 3 innings in for Tennessee this year because of injury, so he wont go as high as preseason projections, but he could help a very bad Texas pen in 2020. He has top of the rotation stuff. Coll is the uber athlete that the organization likes to draft. Toral has lightower power and Ward has maybe the best speed in the draft.

TORONTO
5.Toronto-Asa Lacy||LHP||Texas A&M
42.Toronto-Chris McMahon||RHP||Miami
77.Toronto-Parker Chavers||CF||Coastal Carolina
106.Toronto-Connor Phillips||RHP||McLennan CC
136.Toronto-Enrique Bradfield||CF||American Heritage, FL

This is probably best case scenario for Toronto. They want a pitcher and Lacy doesnt have the medicals that Hancock has. He has two pitches that are plus to plus plus. Command from his funky delivery is the knock. If you are comfortable with him, he can be an ace. McMahon is another college pitcher that could rise quickly through the minors. He might not make it to 42. Chavers did not play this spring. Could have been a first rounder. I think Bradfield ends up at Vanderbilt.

WASHINGTON
22.Washington-Garrett Mitchell||CF||UCLA
55.Washington-CJ Van Eyk||RHP||Florida State
71.Washington-Cade Horton||RHP/3B||Norman, OK
94.Washington-CJ Smith||LHP||Georgia
123.Washington-Nolan McLean||3B/RHP||Garner, NC
153.Washington-Ryan Ritter||SS||John Logan JC

It seems like Mitchell is sliding. It might be the diabetes or it might be the lack of power in games, but i think 22 is a great spot for him, and Im not high on him. If he plays a good centerfield and can be a good runner, he is going to give you 1-1.5 WAR. If he hits at all, he's valuable. Smith and Ritter are selected to save money for Horton and McLean.
