Anchorage

Last game of the season and we face our biggest rival. Singapore has clinched the division and this game won’t affect them at all, but for us it is a statement game heading into next season.

Offensive Formations: (2TE/2WR 40%, 2RB/2TE 40%, 3 Wide 20%)

We we will run a balanced ball control attack this week. Our base this week which we will run 40% of the time is our 2TE set. We will run our 2 Back/2 TE set utilizing our fullback and an additional TE 40% of the offensive plays, followed our 3wide as the remaining 20%, which we will mix in throughout the game as well looking for any matchups we can take advantage of by spreading out the defense.

Offensive Plan of Attack:

We will be looking to run the ball 50 percent of the time in this game and control the clock. We will primarily run combo blocking man schemes with stretches, tosses, slams, and dives. We will look to double Aaron Donald and utilize our tight ends/Fullback to combo to the LBer or seal out the edge players. Against their 5 front, the TE away from the play side will seal off the backside Edge player. Allowing the Tackle to single block Onyemata or double Donald if he is the backside 3T/5T with the G. If Donald is to the play side the backside G blocks Harris, and Bradbury combo blocks Donald with the playside G. The playside T takes the playside Edge and the playside TE combos with the T and works to the LBer. Our Fullback will lead block through the hole, or on some plays work towards the backside backer to throw off with some misdirection. In our 3 Wide we will run zone plays. 50/40/10 split once again with Ingram, Pollard, and Lewis.

We will once again utilize our tight ends heavily in the passing game this week. We will use them at times to stretch the seams, sometimes at the same time, or alternating while the other attacks the intermediate portions of the field, we will bring them on drags and crossers and utilize play action and roll outs based off of our run game. We are going to leave them inline this week however we will motion one out and bring him back in line occasionally. However most of our motions will come from lining our RB up in the slot and motioning him back into the backfield.

We will utilize both Boyd and Watkins to attack all depths of the defense on different plays. In the three wide N’Keal Harry moves to X and Boyd into the slot. We will combo our TE/WR on the same side to stack routes and provide Cousins with several options to attack the pass defense of Singapore.

Cousins will be under center 80% of this game. Cousins will once again have the call to shift line protection and call hot routes and audibles after using motions.

Dwayne Haskins can get some burn i if we are up by a lot. We won’t limit him, he will run the same plays as Cousins would. However if we are losing by a lot Comeback Captain Kirk will be in to bring us back.

Defensive Formations:

We are going to play a lot of situational defense against Singapore. If Singapore comes out with their two RB attack we will counter with the following:

Jarrad Davis will play WLB against the 2RB set on early downs and or short yardage (SY) situations so like a 3rd and 2 for example. He has been excellent in run defense the last two weeks. On clear passing downs or long yardage (LY) situations against the 2RB offense Landon Collins will play WLB and Chauncey Gardner Johnson will play SS. In Man Schobert and J. Collins will cover the RBs, L. Collins will have TE, Ronnie Harrison will have middle deep zone, and Davis will blitz or have middle zone. In the other formation, Schobert and L. Collins have the RBs, CGJ has TE, Harrison Deep Middle, and J. Collins blitz or middle zone. Corners will have the receivers in both. When we play zone in the SY formation Davis will blitz. In the LY formation we will occasionally blitz J. Collins but he will mostly play in his zone responsibility.

Against 3 Wide, Davis comes off the field and CGJ comes in at Nickel. Against the 4 wide our dline will be LE Jordan Jenkins, NT Javon Hargrave, UT Trey Flowers, and RE Jamie Collins, Schobert at MLB, CGJ and Bless Austin at Nickel and Dime, with Ronnie Harrison as deep safety. If they run a 3RB set by bringing in Sherman, the SS moves down into the box and our formation will look like: LE- Javon Hargrave, NT- Vita Vea, RE- Derek Wolfe, LOLB- Trey Flowers, ROLB- Sam Hubbard. MLB’s- Joe Schobert and Jamie Collins.

Defensive Plan of Attack:

We will mix our coverages between Cover 2 (40%) Cover 3 (30%) Man/Single High (30%). We will play press again in every coverage as we really like the size and strength of our corners to be physical. In man against a 3W, 2RB set, Schobert has the FB or Second RB, Landon Collins has the RB, and Jamie Collins has Qb Spy or Blitz. Against a 3W, 1TE, 1RB set, Jamie Collins has RB, Landon Collins has TE, and Joe Schobert has middle zone or Blitz. Against a 2TE set in man, Jamie Collins has a TE, Landon Collins has a TE, Schobert has the RB, and Jarrad Davis has middle zone or Blitz. If it’s a long to go 2TE set Landon Collins will play WLB like against the 2RB formation. In which Landon Collins and CGJ have the TE’s. Joe Schobert has RB and Jamie Collins has middle zone or blitz.

Gap Discipline will be key once again against a good running game. Against the 2RB or 2TE set in SY situations we will single gap. Vea and Schobert take the A gaps. Hargrave and Davis take B gaps. The ends take C gaps. Both Collins have D gaps. In LY situations against the 2RB or 2TE, or every situation against the 3Wide, we will have Vita Vea two gap both A gaps. Javon Hargrave will have B gap to Strong Side/TE side. Joe Schobert will opposite B gap. Sam Hubbard will have right side C gap, and Jamie Collins will have outside contain or D gap to the TE/Strong Side. Trey Flowers will have Left Side C gap, CGJ will have Outside Contain or D gap on that side. Landon Collins will have spill inside to outside chase. So he will fill any holes from inside out that aren’t getting clogged if my Dline is getting beat.

We will rotate our interior Dline to keep them fresh, with Foley Fatukasi playing NT and Ed Oliver playing UT. They will each rotate in for about 20 plays each. We will bring in Derek Wolfe as well as a rotational player and he plays against a 3RB set.

Go Wolves!

Singapore

Motivation - Finish out the season. Enjoy our first divisional title and get healthy for the playoffs.

Offensive Strategy

Formations:  Bunch formation using trips - single back - TE / 2 wide - 2 TE - RB
Scheme:  Pass (50%) vs Run (50%)

Rushing
Position Depth:  Latavius Murray/ Le’Veon Bell / Kareem Hunt

Our goal this week is to use our tailbacks to develop a stable vertical passing game.  To achieve this, we’ll be utilizing bunch formations to get more blockers near the line of scrimmage to assist in second level blocking off the edge.  We feel that increasing our rushing attempts in this game, specifically off tackle; will force Anchorage to reduce the number of times they bring the blitz off the edge (Trey Flowers / Sam Hubbard).

The Anchorage defense utilizes their linebackers in coverage more than most in my opinion, possibly due to a weaker cornerback group or perhaps it’s as simple as his defense runs predominately zone coverages and the linebackers are key in making this work.  To defend against this, our interior rushing game will be a mix of the run pass option (RPO), play action and delayed handoffs.  We want their linebackers guessing their coverage assignment and zone reads while bunched receivers flood the interior’s second level.  We’ll also be using pre-snap motion to expose man coverage assignments as well as shifting blocking assignments running to the heavy side of the offense.

Relying on a heavier run game this week we believe that by utilizing the bunch formations, play action and RPO will force the Wolves to tighten their coverage inside the box, opening up the field for the passing attack.

Passing

Using Bunch as our primary formation this week, including receiving option routes designed to find space in zone coverage.  We feel this is a great scheme to combat the Anchorage defense when in zone and pre snap movement will indicate man coverage.  We favor the matchups against a porous secondary that Rodgers shouldn’t have any issues moving the chains, by employing a quick passing game that includes our backs on swing and flat routes.  While our bunched receiving core of Josh Gordon/WR, Cole Beasley/Slot, Darren Waller/TE and Keenan Allen/WR flood the field with a variety of routes (slants, crossing, dig and fly primarily).
Bunch formations will also be used in shotgun spreading out the line of scrimmage, grouping a combination of receiver and TE to one side out wide, single back and Josh Gordon by himself opposite the grouped receivers.  Looking to get Gordon on an island by himself on go routes or having a variety of options within trips to get the first.

Eventually, we want Aaron Rodgers airing it out against a secondary that we feel favors us, but coming out tossing bombs takes a little prep work and we believe combining a heavier rushing game (50/50), running both pass and rush from identical formations, option routes to find space in zone coverage, utilizing RPO, play action to freeze the linebackers ultimately gives Rodgers and company the edge.

Pass Protection

I mentioned slowing down the blitz off the edge by utilizing the rush and by design the play action and RPO gives us a running back/blocker inside the pocket.  Bunch formation puts a tight end left and/or right of tackle, depending on the receiving group used.  Pre snap movement to assist in blocking and expose defensive scheme for quick passing when in man coverage.

Defensive Strategy
Formation:  4-2-5 Nickel
Scheme:  Cover 1 Man

Pass Defense

Our focus this week is stopping the passing game, plan and simple; while we respect Anchorage’s running game we know that the real strength of this team lies within their quality at receiver.  This unit has several solid receivers in Boyd, Watkins and Pascal as well as threats at tailback in Ingram and Pollard.  However, we are confident that our secondary is up to the task of preventing this passing game from developing this week.

Our main defensive formation will consist of the 4-2-5 (Nickel). In my opinion, this formation is putting our best 11 on the field thus giving our defense the best chance to dismantle their passing game.   This formation also provides our defense more flexibility in blitz packages getting safety, inside backers and even the inside corner at times involved against a pretty good offensive line in tackles Armstead and Collins.

Coverage Assignments when in Man:
·         Boyd / Jason McCourty-CB
·         Watkins / Quinton Dunbar-CB
·         Pascal / Jonathan Jones-CB
·         Fant / Kareem Jackson-S
 ·         Ingram / Deion Jones-LB

The Blitz/Run D

Our D-Line will continue it’s dominance with Chandler Jones, Danielle Hunter crashing the edges and Aaron Donald and Shelby Harris stuffing the middle. As mentioned this defense will be bringing different looks bringing blitz packages from secondary and backer positions.  While we’ve got great respect for most of this Anchorage offensive line, it does have a few holes at center and guard.  So we’ll look to exploit those areas by keeping the pressure for the bulk of the game.  Getting Aaron Donald involved in stunt blitzes and just letting him do what he does best in the 3 tech, by driving the blitz inside while providing box safety support against the rush.  In addition, blitzing off the edge by our outside backers, we believe will be enough to disrupt this Anchorage offensive line to put a constant amount of pressure on either quarterback.
