But Kelly Olynyk shot 9-16 (56.3%) including 3-7 from beyond the arc, Bam only made 2 3PA over the course of the entire season. Nearly 80% of Bam's FGs came from within 10 feet in the regular season. Olynyk was closer to 63%. Bam is much better defender and rebounder, but Olynyk offers more shooting. Sure, it was the one in fifteen game that Kelly has where you remember that he was a lottery pick. Heat got destroyed defensively last night. Lakers were in the paint at will. Olynyk ain't doing anything to stop that. It's a what if game, but Bam almost always impacts a game vastly more than Olynyk even if Olynyk can make a few 3s

They used Bam as a help defender. He wasn’t really on AD. And offensively, his value really isn’t really felt in the points. It’s how he helps Dragic and his teammates. It’s one game. Wonder what the the people were saying after the Memorial Day massacre. The LALs have four bigs who are as big if not bigger than Bam: LBJ, AD, Dwight and McGee. He's a good player and will (probably) get better over time - but MIA was gonna win this series with their guard play - not on the front line. He got hurt. It sucks, but it happens. Maybe next year. It's not MIAs year.

Bam is also one of, if not the, best playmaking/passing big men in the league while Olynyk is below average there. So Bam is a better scorer, much better defender, much better rebounder, and much better playmaker. But Olynyk offers more shooting.

Bam is playing at a first team All-Defensive level in the playoffs and you don't think he'd at least contribute to slowing AD down?

Yeah, losing Dragic was a killer. They're +1 in 15 minutes with him on the floor and -27 in 91 minutes with him off the floor.
J-ALL-DAY
2 hours ago, Kip Smithers said: Disagree. I find it very hard to believe that even with Bam there that the disparity in offensive rebounding would still be as big. There quite a few times where AD would just overpower Olynyk. That ain’t happening with Bam. Its not a huge projection. While yes Olynyk and Nunn combined for those numbers, you don’t think A healthy Dragic and Bam don’t match at the very least match that? They can’t get yield more than 5 assists? Plus Bams impact on defense, would they still give up 124? I don’t get the issue in saying a healthy Bam, arguably their best all round player and their only legit big would’ve had a notable impact. I don't know WHAT happens if those two play. That's the point. Nothing that happened last night would make me think the Heat win if Bam/Dragic play. Like the game could have been completely different and we may not have seen Olynyk or Nunn in action. As for do I not think Bam/Dragic combine for those numbers? Again, not sure. They were not on pace to hit those numbers in game 1 before they got hurt, but that was only one game. It’s not about saying Bam wouldn't have had an impact. The Heat are definitely not better without him but for one game it's not crazy to think Olynyk made the type of offensive impact that Bam couldn't have made. The Heat may not have allowed 124 points with Bam, but they may not have scored 114 points either. That's why it is hard for me to say if Dragic/Bam played, the Heat would have won. We would just have gotten a totally different ball game. But even if those two return, Spo now can use Olynyk/Nunn going forward and adjust his rotations. He cant sniff AD’s jockstrap. Too short to slow him down. He may have 2-3 good defensive possessions on AD but he really cant guard him. Especially if that jumper is falling like the way it is. 3 level scoring by a PF/C with his quickness is just unfair

Even in game 1, he didn’t guard AD much as he was guarding the other Laker big. That's something that needs to change tomorrow.

I mean, it's nitpicking between the 2. Curry and Durant had more firepower, but LeBron and AD are better defensively. Both had strengths and weaknesses, but I think LeBron and AD wins out as a duo.
