At long last, the mission was complete! The group cheered, high-fived, and popped champagne. With all the commotion, they didn’t notice the shadowy figures creeping up on them—at least, not until the first ninja stars pierce theuntouchable’s neck. Touch is dead. He was Paladin, Gift Giver, Hero for Hire. Taken by surprise, the rest fall quickly. All the technology in the world can’t save Counselor or Pickle Rick from the furious ninja blades hacking away at them. Counselor is dead. He was Iron Patriot, Role Cop, Hero for Hire. Pickle Rick is dead. He was Darkhawk, Developing Ability Thief, Hero for Hire. Without much left to live for, Ragnarok puts up little resistance. At least he dies at peace, without those nasty voices incriminating him for his many sins. Ragnarok is dead. He was Moon Knight, Neighborizer, Thunderbolts. In the midst of the carnage, ET80 tries to swing away, but a well-thrown ninja star cuts down his web and sends him crashing into a crowd of foes, who make quick work of him. ET80 is dead. He was Anti-Venom, Doctor, Thunderbolts. And despite his unbreakable skin, even Kingseanjohn eventually falls to the unrelenting onslaught. KSJ is dead. He was Luke Cage, Macho Bulletproof Mason, Hero for Hire. They leave Joshstradaymus for last. They drag him before their scantily-clad leader, a woman in red with two sai at her hips. She leans down, looking into Josh’s milky eyes. “Well, well, well. Didn’t see this coming, now did we? How disappointing…but appreciated.” With a single swift motion, she ends Josh’s life with a sai to the throat. Joshstradaymus is dead. He was Madame Web, Chat Enabling 3-shot Census Taker, Thunderbolts. Their opponents slaughtered, she turns back to her loyal servant, Bcb. “What marvelous work you’ve done here, pet. They never suspected your true mission—not even when one of their own warned them.” Bcb bows, privately taking little pride in what he has done, knowing it was only thanks to the hubris and stupidity of his foes. “I live only to serve you, mistress—you, and The Hand.” BCB wins! He was Steel Serpent, JOAT Mastermind, The Hand. Congratulations to Bcb and The Hand for being the sole winner of Maximum Carnage Mafia!
