What is everyones thoughts on Eric Gordon so far this season?

Hes been shooting career lows, but is averaging a career high 25 early on this season. I expect that to come down once CP3 returns to full health, but the guy has been on a different level from years past. He would easily be scoring over 30 a game right now if his 3 point shooting was anywhere near his career average. Shooting wise right now the only difference on last season is that he is taking and missing 4 more 3s a game than last year. He has been physically in the best shape hes ever been in. The guy is dunking and driving like the player he flashed early on in his career.

I am just curious how non rockets fans view him. Its not every year that a guy has such a jump in scoring, while on a winning team, while shooting ice cold.

I used to believe that and I fell for that narrative but then I realised he doesn't. He makes teams better but as far as individual players he doesn't make them better.

Something I and others have been saying for years. Those that actually make individuals better are ball movers ala Jason Kidd and Steve Nash during his Phoenix days. I remember arguing that playing style wise, Kobe would actually be easier for another perimeter player to play with than LeBron. But if you are just a specialist, then LeBron would be the best in the game. No one could do more than less than LeBron, but no question it is tough to play with him if you also need the ball. He actually was better in not controlling the ball as much last season. IIRC, Kyrie had the rock in his hands more than LeBron.

Same applies to Chris Paul. He is great with one dimensional roll men and shooters, but he isn't going to make another star player better.

But end of the day, the most important thing is if you make the TEAM better, and LeBron certainly does that.

I think when people say Lebron makes other better they actually mean that he makes it easier on others. He gets everyone open shots. Which makes average or below average shooters look a lot better. There were stretches during the season were he had guys like Shump, deandre liggins and delly shooting over 40% on 3s. Which is insane.

Yeah I agree with pretty much every thing you just said.

Yeah he makes it easier for them but so does Steph, KD just to name a few. People say it as if LeBron is only one. LeBron definitely makes it easier for spot up shooters. But guys like DRose, Wade, Bosh, Love and Irving he isn't making them better at all.

For sure. But if you are a volume type of offensive player that needs certain amount of touches/shots, then it could be a struggle at times. But overall, there is a whole a lot more pluses than negatives playing with LeBron. You put shooting around him, then the offense is damn near unstoppable. The last three games of the finals they lit the Warriors up like nothing.

I haven't really watched much of the Cavs this season, but they didn't exactly end last season on a good note either. They were barely over .500 after the ASB. Seems like JR is really playing terrible on both ends and that is a problem. The bench since Wade has moved there has actually looked solid, it's the starters getting destroyed. Maybe LeBron until the team figures it out needs to be in attack mode early on.

Yep. He definitely does this, people crash when Lebron drives. This creates a ton of open looks for players.

Steph's impact is on the offensive end is ridiculous. This is why it is hilarious how everyone rates him in the bottom five or not even in the top five anymore. With all that talent on the team, his +/- is unmatched. Dude stretches the defenses out to damn near the half court line and makes it so much easier on everyone else.

He definitely prefers to play with shooters that open up the lane for him. It's just that you can't win a title if he is the lone shot maker. His teams offenses often times will come down to isolating and making plays on their own as they don't run much offense end of games. This is where I.T. will really help. That's a guy who can get his own and has no problem going one on one end of games to make something happen.

Lebron and unfortunately the rest of the cavs have zero interest in breaking a sweat right now. I’ve never seen this lazy of play. I think they realize they need to save as much energy as possible for June. It’s almost unwatchable. But I’ll reserve judgement until IT comes back. We need some heart.

JR has been utter garbage. He should have never been benched. I think it messed with his head. And he’s not the most stable to begin with.

Signing calderon was probably the biggest mistake of our offseason. He’s useless and it was completely predictable. We should have gone after tony Allen. We needed defense and some attitude in the worst possible way. I truly believe even tony Allen could shoot at least 33% on 3s playing with Lebron.

I think Steph is the most valuable player in the league.
