Week 11 GDT Colts @ Bills: Wildcard Rematch!

Quick glance:

The 5-5 Colts visit Orchard Park for the first time since their 2020 season ended here earlier this year in January. The 6-3 Bills will look to stay atop of the AFC East with a surging Patriots closing in. This is one of the biggest match-ups of the weekend and will have serious playoff implications and likely a playoff feel to it.

The Colts are one of the better rushing teams in the league so the Bills will be hoping to have both Edmunds and Star Lotulelei back into the lineup who missed last week. This game is no different for the Bills and their formula for success. If the offense scores points early and often it allows their aggressive defense to attack the opposing QB and allows the best secondary in football to go to work. Carson Wentz has been sacked at least once in every game and has 5 fumbles on the year (3 lost) to go with 3 INT. Getting after him and forcing him to throw to win will go a long way towards a Bills win.

The Colts defense has allowed the most touchdowns in the NFL and the 7th most yards to opposing offenses. Josh Allen and co. should have another big day if the OL holds up well again. Stefon Diggs is coming off his best game of 2021 and Gabriel Davis could start to see more playing time as well. He was a big part of the Bills playoff win with 4 catches for 85 yards including two crucial sideline grabs before a late 1st half TD run by Allen. The offense is a different animal with Dawson Knox available and the Bills may look to continue to sprinkle in Isaiah McKenzie and Matt Breida for speed.

Prediction:

Never underestimate a desperate team in November and that is exactly what the Colts are. Their wildcard hopes would take a serious hit with a 6th loss this weekend. They are a well coached team who gave the Bills everything they could handle in the playoffs last year. The Bills offense had a get right game last week vs New York. Now they need to keep the momentum going and string more big wins together. Being at home and having the better team all around makes it hard for me to bet against the Bills. But it will be closer than we want.

Bills 30
Colts 21.

Bills defense needs to go big this game and more of a 4-3 with Klein edmunds and milano on the field stacking the box to contain Taylor. By doing so this will then force wentz in to having to throw the ball. If the offense can get going early and we stop the run game early this will then put colts in to a situation in which wentz will have to throw 40 times and he will likely try to make a bone head passing play as he is similar to Allen during those desperate times in hopes of making a play.

This is the stretch in which the bills are facing teams that are at .500 or better except for Atlanta right now. The easy schedule projection is no longer the case and they need to show up for this game in order to continue the lead over the Pats.

Edmunds still isn’t practicing so doesn’t look good for him on Sunday. I don’t think you’ll see the Bills after their defense much anyway as Taron Johnson is a heck of a run stopper from the nickel spot.

With Milano still being in a red non contact jersey I could see Neal seeing some LB reps. Could be a big week for Dodson or Andre Smith tools

Offense will be in tough against the Colts DL and now missing Spencer Brown. No matter who is out there now, the right side of the line will be an issue for Allen.
