You def called numbers pretty good for future years. Im shocked hes taking less this year, I wish they wouldve put more.
Team friendly is the no guarantee. Easy to cut / work around his contract if needed.

Hopefully cap jumps in 2024 2025.

I dont understand the bold part. I swear you were saying earlier he was making 25 mil this season and that wouldnt change?
Regardless a paycut, is a paycut, not his normal contract lol

He was making 19.8M and took a paycut to 19.3M. I must of been thinking about Carr's deadcap hit for 2022.

So McDaniels/Ziegler gave Carr some "security" by adding the no trade clause but the non-existent dead cap means that we can just cut him and move on any time after next season.

Yes it’s security for both. Team friendly deal while Carr doesn’t have the ghosts of potential trade rumors swirling around and he can let his performance dictate his position with the team.

The way the deal is set up basically just guarantees that if things don't go smoothly Carr will essentially be able to pick where he goes next either via trade or free agency.

Don’t you think the salary cap will look a lot different by 2024? 40 will be more middle of the pack, just like how DCs first big contract ended.

This is a way every fan tries to downplay these contracts to make themselves feel better. The cap will go up, but it goes up for all 32 teams. And it is still a very large number of the cap regardless. We will still have the third highest paid QB by annual salary behind Allen/Watson come 2024... Yes other QB's will get paid, but they will all get paid on the back-end years also. Meaning we are still at a massive disadvantage for 2024 and 2025. Heck, even Mahomes annual cap hit will not exceed Carr until 2027...

It would be ideal for us to win the Super Bowl this year or 2023 before these contracts become a huge issue, and all we can do is hope for A+ drafts every year which is ridiculously difficult to do.

Exactly. Easy out for the team, soft landing for Carr. Friendly for both sides and with the rate on the first two year very team friendly because it will be known by then if he goes to years 3 and 4.

Yeah they basically said we'll pay you like an elite QB in years 3/4 if you prove you can play like one during the first two years we're together.

Gotta love that confidence. We should all hope he gets it but if not we are not any worst for trying.

With the way that it's structured if we don't make a deep playoff run over the next two seasons I doubt he sees those last two years.

Good point. If we go back to back years missing the playoffs, and 2023 is like a 5-12 season, we will likely see the end of McDaniels and Carr, and trade Adams/Waller.
