Where does Kevin Durant go?

I think that the Nets taking Kyrie off the trade block and willing to move forward with him was a big reason for KD to remove his request. He still wanted Nash and Marks gone but settled for them bringing Kyrie back.

The Nets were never going to move Kyrie Irving until a Kevin Durant deal.  They'd be lucky to get a quarter of Irving's true value if they moved him now.  I have to imagine this is a "play through the year, and if you don't like what is happening we can revisit this discussion next offseason" agreement.

Im glad the Nets held firm and not let KD and even Kyrie get what they wanted. KD signed a 4yr deal so unless the Nets got exactly what they wanted they werent going to trade KD. KD came to the realization that he is not going to get traded, we know he wont retire or sit out this season. He dont want to be a distraction either. He just want to play basketball. Kyrie want to be with the Nets. Its just the Nets dont want to fully commit to Kyrie bc they dont trust him day to day. This is a prove it season for Kyrie. If he want to get the long term deal he believes he deserves he has to go out there and ball out for 70+ games and show up in the playoffs.

So we know KD is going to show up, Kyrie has to show up, and then this is also a prove it season for Simmons as well. Last season was a horrible look for him. He has to go out and show that he still is the guy that the 76ers once thought was the face of their franchise. He has no excuse of being hurt. He has no excuse of not having the support like he did when he was in Philly when Embiid and Doc threw him under the bus after the failed playoff series against the Hawks. Simmons has the support system with the Nets bc he has his mentor in Mills there. KD and Kyrie Im sure has embraced him as well. He honestly have a better supporting cast around him than in Philly. He is going to be the defensive guy and ball handler. He is going to make life easier for KD, Kyrie, and others by handling the ball and putting them in great positions to score the ball easier. Fast breaks will be his specialty. Then on defense he can take the toughest player on the other team. He just will be a matchup chess piece on both ends of the court and again he will be motivated.

The Nets have one of the best teams on paper it just comes down to them all being focused this season to go win a title. After how this past season ended getting swept Id like to think the Nets will go out there and prove they are 1000x better than how they played in the playoffs against the Celtics. I think the pressure is fully on Steve Nash. If the Nets do get off to a slow start I could see him getting fired during the season. Again this is a prove it year for the Nets. Once this season is over Kyrie can walk, the Nets could start looking again to move KD, and many other things could happen. So Nash has to be better as a coach this season and at worst to the ECF. But yeah Im glad at least for now all this KD trade stuff is over and the Nets are moving forward with what they have now which is a championship contending team. Im excited to see how this season plays out for them.

KD called all these shots and got nothing from it Incredible lol. Said it all along he gave up any power he had when he signed the long term deal. Now has to put together these fracture work relationships that he caused. Nets will be a good team with a very high ceiling but commitment and coaching will probably always hold them back.
