adamq
Position-less basketball has been a trend over the last 10ish years, and to a degree we've seen some individual guys in the NFL do it to varying success.. but there's never been an offense with this level of versatility.. Deebo, a WR that also happens to be a dominant RB, a FB who is a threat split out wide, a RB that is more dangerous out of the slot than most team's WR.. hell the LT can line up at FB and mow over dudes on the edge I broke down and bought the new madden, and yeah it's just a dumb video game, but playing as the 49ers is a cheat code. You can come out in a base set, shift to a spread formation and just pick on LBers all day. Just need to give Jimmy a little time (looking at you McG) and there is no reason we shouldn't score 25+ points per game

He’s got all the toys he could possibly want and an elite defense. It’s time to put up some points and make a deep playoff run.
49ersfan
Quote The general opinion was that the McCaffrey trade was mutually beneficial. Hard to argue after McCaffrey racked up three touchdowns Sunday when the 49ers beat the Rams, 31-14. “Instant splash,” the coach said. But there’s one concern. “Great for Carolina, tons of risk for San Francisco,” an executive noted. “He better stay healthy. And even if he does, is it because you managed his workload? Is that why you traded for him? To manage his workload?” A general manager agreed, “That’s a big haul for a running back who has been injured.” It’s a valid trepidation. McCaffrey missed 23 games from 2020-21. And even though he was healthy this past offseason, the Panthers limited the 26-year-old’s reps in training camp and kept him out of the preseason. If McCaffrey does stay healthy, though, as he did for his first three years in the league and again this season, the star running back has already shown what type of difference he can make for the 49ers. And that’d make it a win-win. -The Athletic (NFL trade deadline article reviewing all the big trades)

And staying healthy is vital to ANY player maximizing their value. But the misnomer is that we traded for a RB. No...we traded for a chess piece. To go along with our other peices on the board that can move just as freely and fluidly. Someone here mentioned it in a post but it's about positionless football. WRs who can line up in the backfield. RBs who can motion to the slot and terrorize your nickelback for 60 mins. People looking at his listed position on the roster and just stopping there are missing whole context of how much harder it is now to contain this offense. EVEN with Jimmy as the QB. When Deebo & Juice get healthy, it's going to be a problem for opposing defenses. Just need Jimmy to try his best not to **** it up lol.
