Fine, keeps him fresh until the fall

He blew his chance with the 12M contract that was on the table, this one is on him and his agent. The RB position is a devalued position and no way should he be paid higher than the 12 that was on the table.

This one is a bit annoying, but not really concerning. We know Dex is going to keep in good shape. It'd be nice to get this resolved sooner than later though. The Jeffrey Simmons domino has fallen, so we know his market value now. We also know the Giants want to keep him and Dex wants to stay here. Pay the man and get him to camp.

I’m not worried about this one either. Minicamp is over a month away, all they do next is play patty cake and lift weights.

This blockbuster Giants-Rams trade proposal sends Cooper Kupp to New York (msn.com)

Quote

What could a trade between the Giants and the Rams look like? A suggested trade package would be New York sending a first and third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft (No. 25 and No. 89) along with a 2024 third-round pick to Los Angeles in exchange for Kupp.

The Rams would get premium draft picks to kick-start the rebuild. They have half-heartedly begun that process and might as well go all-in; if they want to turn things around quickly, they have to be committed to it.

Kupp would provide the Giants and Jones the go-to receiver they haven’t had since Odell Beckham Jr. What Kupp accomplished in nine games in an injury-riddled 2022 campaign is more than the top pass catcher in New York accomplished.

What are your thoughts on this possible scenario? Kupp is a legit #1 no doubt. Would you give up 25, 89, and a 2024 3rd for him? I have to admit it's enticing lol

Absolutely not. Way too expensive. That’s a huge amount of money and picks for a 30 year old receiver.

I’m also shocked to see he only has 2 career 1000 yard seasons, even if one is the best receiver season in history.

Rather just trade our third for Hopkins

The timing is interesting. Also, cap space is super tight. Unless 'up to' is doing a lot of work here and there is massive void money at the end of this, we can't afford him right now while still paying our draft class. Maybe a Dexter Lawrence deal is coming up?? Schoen said he has been talking to his agent, and we know it is getting done soon.

We would save about $6M from a Dex extension based on the Simmons and Payne ones. Our rookie pool currently will cost us $10.4M and we only have $2.2M right now. There would need to be two moves.

I would love for an Adoree extension to cut his $19M cap hit, but reports are that isn’t happening. We are going to need the Leo restructure and push more money into the void.

Little exercise- here is what our roster would most likely look like if the draft is never held and the season started tomorrow (assuming everyone is healthy as well):

QB: Daniel Jones, Tyrod Taylor (2)
RB: Saquon Barkley, Matt Breida, Gary Brightwell (3)
WR: Sterling Shepard, Wan'Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton, Isaiah Hodgins, Parris Campbell, Jamison Crowder (6)
TE: Darren Waller, Daniel Bellinger, Lawrence Cager, Tommy Sweeney (4)
OT: Andrew Thomas, Evan Neal, Tyre Philips, Matt Peart (4)
iOL: Mark Glowinski, Ben Bredeson, Josh Ezeudu, Jack Anderson, JC Hassenauer, Marcus Mckethan (6)
25

EDGE: Kayvon Thibodeaux, Azeez Ojulari, Jihad Ward, Tomon Fox (4)
DL: Dexter Lawrence, Leonard Williams, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, A'Shawn Robinson, DJ Davidson (5)
LB: Bobby Okereke, Micah Mcfadden, Jarrad Davis, Darrian Beavers, Carter Coughlin, Cam Brown (6)
CB: Adoree Jackson, Cordale Flott, Amani Oruwariye, Darnay Holmes, Nick McCloud, Aaron Robinson (6)
S: Xavier Mckinney, Dane Belton, Jason Pinnock, Bobby McCain (4)
25

Specialists: (3)

We have 10 draft picks, and Schoen has stressed (correctly) that it is important to consider your current roster when looking at the draft. Do you have a place for the player you want to draft? Is he an improvement for your roster? Considering that, where do you see as the obvious spots we can improve? And for every player we draft that we want to keep on the initial 53, one of these players listed has to come off the roster.

Considering that, these are the weakest players on the roster at this moment:

Offense- Gary Brightwell (RB3), Jamison Crowder (WR6), Tommy Sweeney (TE4), Tyre Philips (OT3), Matt Peart (OT4), Jack Anderson (iOL4), JC Hassenauer (iOL5), Marcus Mckethan (iOL6).

Defense- Tomon Fox (EDGE4), Micah Mcfadden, Darrian Beavers, Carter Coughlin, and Cam Brown (LBs 2-6 [although there is a lot of special teams value in there]), Cordale Flott (CB2), Darnay Holmes (NCB1), Nick McCloud (CB3), Aaron Robinson (CB4), Dane Belton (S3).

You can see some obvious weaknesses here- iOL, LB, CB are the 3 that stand out the most. But building a team is more than just looking at the current year, so obviously there are more needs than just those 3, but those are going to be the positions that we can get value out of later in this draft because it is not going to require a day 1 or 2 talent to replace some of these guys. Some of the players I listed are very young guys who have some promise as well, so you want to keep them and see what you can get out of them.

A main point I'm getting at though- we don't really have 10 roster spots open for our entire class as is right now, unless you already are willing to jettison some guys you drafted last year. You'd be more ok getting rid of some (Marcus Mckethan, DJ Davidson) than others (Cordale Flott), but still, these are guys our FO had faith in just last year.

Expect at least 1 trade up this year, guys.

100%, there is going to be a lot of dealing for us. We had 3 trades in the draft last year I believe, those phones will be ringing.
