I know the story line right now is Pujols pursuit of 700, but as we get down the last 4-5 weeks of the season, Goldschmidt is legit in line to put up one of the most historical seasons in baseball history. He is on pace to potentially win the Triple Crown (which hasn't been done since 2012), but also is on pace to win the triple slash line (average/OBP/Slugging %).

You have to go back to the 1960's the last time that happened.

He's having one of the best seasons any Cardinal has ever had.

Both would be incredible feats.  It's an exciting time to be a Cardinals fan.

Oh, and we can't forget about Waino & Yadi chasing down that all-time starts by a battery record.  That's one that'll never be broken.

This team just can’t compete with the elite NL teams. Not even close to the level of the Braves, Dodgers, and Mets.

Wanna walk that statement back lol?

Last night's win was huge. Those are the types of games earlier this season we don't win, but the whole dynamic/confidence of this team has changed over the last 4-5 weeks.

Is Carlson hurt? I feel like it's super weird that he went from being "untradeable" in the Soto deal to benched in a matter of a few weeks.

He's just not hitting at all right now. Oli is maximizing playing time for the guys who are swinging the bat extremely well right now (Donovan - who is just an OBP machine and has picked back up the offense recently and Nootbaar - who has an OPS over .1000 the last few weeks) and rightfully so.

don't think this stretch he's in has any bearing on how the organization views Carlson and his future. He's still gonna be an important piece.
