He was one of the few dudes I wanted the Packers to get. Seeing that contract makes it sting just a little more.

Too busy trying to get something from the Jets to spend money elsewhere.  Sharon made sure he waited until the Packers had no leverage.

Reasonable deal. Thornhill was a solid player for us. He's very much kind of just a guy, will hold down his position but isn't a star and isn't going to cover you for deficiencies elsewhere. But he's a solid starter in the league. Kind of guy that just isn't worth paying from our perspective, though. He'll be good for Cleveland but replaceable for us, if that makes sense.

Pretty much just the guy we need at safety, tbh. We need a guy who's solid and isn't going to make major mistakes.

I think he was (is) okay.

I probably hate/noticed the mistakes a bit more because I was really high on him coming out of college, so I really wanted him to be great. Then, iirc he had trouble beating out Sorensen (who we all hated) for the starting S job so it kinda soured me on him. But overall, I think definitely don't think he's the worst S in the league. And at 7 a year, I think it's.....fair?

He looked amazing as a rookie, then got hurt, never seemed to recover quite back to that original level.

he’d yearly make claims he’s gonna be an all-pro, and never following through. He’s solid though, and Spagz runs a complicated scheme. He’s good to give up some deep balls getting fooled up front, be prepared for that, and just an ok tackler.

Replacing John Johnson with Thornhill feels like a incredibly lateral move but for a reasonable contract, they could do a lot worse.

John Johnson was dreadful. Unlike Thornhill, he was a terrible athlete who couldn’t play in space to save his mother’s life. We got an upgrade.
